ਜੋ ਇਛੀ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਾੜਾ ॥

Jo ichʱee so fal paa▫iḋaa gur anḋar vaaṛaa.

I obtain the fruits of my desires; the Guru has directed me within.

ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਭਾਇਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਦਾ ਨੇੜਾ ॥੧੦॥

Gur Naanak ṫutʱaa bʱaa▫irahu har vasḋaa néṛaa. ||10||

When Guru Nanak is pleased, O Siblings of Destiny, the Lord is seen to be dwelling near at hand. ||10||

Dakhanay, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਾ ਮੂੰ ਆਵਹਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਹਭੇ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾਉ ॥

Jaa mooᴺ aavahi chiṫ ṫoo ṫaa habʱé sukʱ lahaa▫o.

When You come into my consciousness, then I obtain all peace and comfort.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮੰਝਿ ਰੰਗਾਵਲਾ ਪਿਰੀ ਤਹਿਜਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥

Naanak man hee manjʱ rangvaalaa piree ṫahijaa naa▫o. ||1||

Nanak: with Your Name within my mind, O my Husband Lord, I am filled with delight. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:

ਕਪੜ ਭੋਗ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਏ ਹਭੇ ਹੀ ਛਾਰ ॥

Kapaṛ bʱog vikaar é habʱé hee chʱaar.

Enjoyment of clothes and corrupt pleasures - all these are nothing more than dust.

ਖਾਕੁ ਲੋੁੜੇਦਾ ਤੰਨਿ ਖੇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ॥੨॥

Kʱaak loṛéḋaa ṫann kʱé jo raṫé ḋeeḋaar. ||2||

I long for the dust of the feet of those who are imbued with the Lord’s Vision. ||2||

Fifth Mehl:

ਕਿਆ ਤਕਹਿ ਬਿਆ ਪਾਸ ਕਰਿ ਹੀਅੜੇ ਹਿਕੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

Ki▫aa ṫakėh bi▫aa paas kar hee▫aṛé hik aḋʱaar.

Why do you look in other directions? O my heart, take the Support of the Lord alone.

ਥੀਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਭੀ ਸੁਖ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥੩॥

Ṫʱee▫o sanṫan kee réṇ jiṫ labʱee sukʱ ḋaaṫaar. ||3||

Become the dust of the feet of the Saints, and find the Lord, the Giver of peace. ||3||

Pa▫oṛee.

Pauree:

ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨੂਆ ਨ ਲਗੈ ॥

viṇ karmaa har jee▫o na paa▫ee▫æ bin saṫgur manoo▫aa na lagæ.

Without good karma, the Dear Lord is not found; without the True Guru, the mind is not joined to Him.

ਧਰਮੁ ਧੀਰਾ ਕਲਿ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਇਹੁ ਪਾਪੀ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਤਗੈ ॥

Ḋʱaram ḋʱeeraa kal anḋré ih paapee mool na ṫagæ.

Only the Dharma remains stable in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; these sinners will not last at all.

ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿ ਕਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਨ ਲਗੈ ॥

Ah kar karé so ah kar paa▫é ik gʱaṛee muhaṫ na lagæ.

Whatever one does with this hand, he obtains with the other hand, without a moment’s delay.

ਚਾਰੇ ਜੁਗ ਮੈ ਸੋਧਿਆ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਨ ਭਗੈ ॥

Chaaré jug mæ soḋʱi▫aa viṇ sangaṫ ahaᴺkaar na bʱagæ.

I have examined the four ages, and without the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, egotism does not depart.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਛੁਟਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਤਸੰਗੈ ॥

Ha▫umæ mool na chʱut▫ee viṇ saaḋʱoo saṫsangæ.

Egotism is never eradicated without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਤਿਚਰੁ ਥਾਹ ਨ ਪਾਵਈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਉ ਮਨ ਭੰਗੈ ॥

Ŧichar ṫʱaah na paav▫ee jichar saahib si▫o man bʱangæ.

As long as one’s mind is torn away from his Lord and Master, he finds no place of rest.

ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਘਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਅਭਗੈ ॥

Jin jan gurmukʱ sévi▫aa ṫis gʱar ḋeebaaṇ abʱgæ.

That humble being, who, as Gurmukh, serves the Lord, has the Support of the Imperishable Lord in the home of his heart.

ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗੈ ॥੧੧॥

Har kirpaa ṫé sukʱ paa▫i▫aa gur saṫgur charṇee lagæ. ||11||

By the Lord’s Grace, peace is obtained, and one is attached to the feet of the Guru, the True Guru. ||11||

Dakhanay, Fifth Mehl:

ਲੋੜੀਦੋ ਹਭ ਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਮੀਰਾ ਮੀਰੰਨ ਸਿਰਿ ॥

Loṛeeḋo habʱ jaa▫é so meeraa meerann sir.

I have searched everywhere for the King over the heads of kings.

ਹਠ ਮੰਝਾਹੂ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ਚਉਦੋ ਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਾਇ ॥੧॥

Hatʱ manjʱaahoo so ḋʱaṇee cha▫uḋo mukʱ alaa▫é. ||1||

That Master is within my heart; I chant His Name with my mouth. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:

ਮਾਣਿਕੂ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਉ ਡਿੰਨਾ ਧਣੀ ਅਪਾਹਿ ॥

Maaṇikoo mohi maa▫o dinnaa ḋʱaṇee apaahi.

O my mother, the Master has blessed me with the jewel.

ਹਿਆਉ ਮਹਿਜਾ ਠੰਢੜਾ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਅਲਾਇ ॥੨॥

Hi▫aa▫o mahijaa tʱandʱ▫ṛaa mukʱahu sach alaa▫é. ||2||

My heart is cooled and soothed, chanting the True Name with my mouth. ||2||

Fifth Mehl:

ਮੂ ਥੀਆਊ ਸੇਜ ਨੈਣਾ ਪਿਰੀ ਵਿਛਾਵਣਾ ॥

Moo ṫʱee▫aa▫oo séj næṇaa piree vichʱaavṇaa.

I have become the bed for my Beloved Husband Lord; my eyes have become the sheets.

ਜੇ ਡੇਖੈ ਹਿਕ ਵਾਰ ਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਮਾ ਹੂ ਬਾਹਰੇ ॥੩॥

Jé dékʱæ hik vaar ṫaa sukʱ keemaa hoo baahré. ||3||

If You look at me, even for an instant, then I obtain peace beyond all price. ||3||

Pa▫oṛee.

Pauree:

ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਉ ਕਿਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਈਆ ॥

Man lochæ har milaṇ ka▫o ki▫o ḋarsan paa▫ee▫aa.

My mind longs to meet the Lord; how can I obtain the Blessed Vision of His Darshan?

ਮੈ ਲਖ ਵਿੜਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਜੇ ਬਿੰਦ ਬੋੁਲਾਈਆ ॥

Mæ lakʱ viṛ▫ṫé saahibaa jé binḋ bolaa▫ee▫aa.

I obtain hundreds of thousands, if my Lord and Master speaks to me, even for an instant.

ਮੈ ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਭਾਲੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਨ ਸਾਈਆ ॥

Mæ chaaré kundaa bʱaalee▫aa ṫuḋʱ jévad na saa▫ee▫aa.

I have searched in four directions; there is no other as great as You, Lord.

ਮੈ ਦਸਿਹੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਸੰਤਹੋ ਕਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ॥

Mæ ḋasihu maarag sanṫaho ki▫o parabʱoo milaa▫ee▫aa.

Show me the Path, O Saints. How can I meet God?

ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪਿਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜਹੁ ਇਤੁ ਪੰਥਿ ਜੁਲਾਈਆ ॥

Man arpihu ha▫umæ ṫajahu iṫ panṫʱ julaa▫ee▫aa.

I dedicate my mind to Him, and renounce my ego. This is the Path which I shall take.

ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ॥

Niṫ sévihu saahib aapṇaa saṫsang milaa▫ee▫aa.

Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I serve my Lord and Master continually.

ਸਭੇ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਗੁਰ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਆ ॥

Sabʱé aasaa pooree▫aa gur mahal bulaa▫ee▫aa.

All my hopes are fulfilled; the Guru has ushered me into the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence.

ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੋੁਸਾਈਆ ॥੧੨॥

Ŧuḋʱ jévad hor na sujʱ▫ee méré miṫar gosaa▫ee▫aa. ||12||

I cannot conceive of any other as great as You, O my Friend, O Lord of the World. ||12||

ਡਖਣੇ ਮਃ ੫ ॥

Dakʱ▫ṇé mėhlaa 5.

Dakhanay, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੂ ਥੀਆਊ ਤਖਤੁ ਪਿਰੀ ਮਹਿੰਜੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥

Moo ṫʱee▫aa▫oo ṫakʱaṫ piree mahinjé paaṫisaah.

I have become the throne for my Beloved Lord King.

ਪਾਵ ਮਿਲਾਵੇ ਕੋਲਿ ਕਵਲ ਜਿਵੈ ਬਿਗਸਾਵਦੋ ॥੧॥

Paav milaavé kol kaval jivæ bigsaavḋo. ||1||

If You place Your foot on me, I blossom forth like the lotus flower. ||1||

ਮਃ ੫ ॥

Mėhlaa 5.

Fifth Mehl:

ਪਿਰੀਆ ਸੰਦੜੀ ਭੁਖ ਮੂ ਲਾਵਣ ਥੀ ਵਿਥਰਾ ॥

Piree▫aa sanḋ▫ṛee bʱukʱ moo laavaṇ ṫʱee viṫʱraa.

If my Beloved becomes hungry, I will become food, and place myself before Him.

ਜਾਣੁ ਮਿਠਾਈ ਇਖ ਬੇਈ ਪੀੜੇ ਨਾ ਹੁਟੈ ॥੨॥

Jaaṇ mitʱaa▫ee ikʱ bé▫ee peeṛé naa hutæ. ||2||

I may be crushed, again and again, but like sugarcane, I do not stop yielding sweet juice. ||2||

Fifth Mehl:

ਠਗਾ ਨੀਹੁ ਮਤ੍ਰੋੜਿ ਜਾਣੁ ਗੰਧ੍ਰਬਾ ਨਗਰੀ ॥

Tʱagaa neehu maṫroṛ jaaṇ ganḋʱarbaa nagree.

Break off your love with the cheaters; realize that it is a mirage.

ਸੁਖ ਘਟਾਊ ਡੂਇ ਇਸੁ ਪੰਧਾਣੂ ਘਰ ਘਣੇ ॥੩॥

Sukʱ gʱataa▫oo doo▫é is panḋʱaaṇoo gʱar gʱaṇé. ||3||

Your pleasure lasts for only two moments; this traveler wanders through countless homes. ||3||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pa▫oṛee.

Pauree:

ਅਕਲ ਕਲਾ ਨਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਲਖ ਅਲੇਖੰ ॥

Akal kalaa nah paa▫ee▫æ parabʱ alakʱ alékʱaᴺ.

God is not found by intellectual devices; He is unknowable and unseen.

ਖਟੁ ਦਰਸਨ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਭੇਖੰ ॥

Kʱat ḋarsan bʱaramṫé firėh nah milee▫æ bʱékʱaᴺ.

The followers of the six orders wander and roam around wearing religious robes, but they do not meet God.
