ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਫਾਸਹਿ ॥

Gur simraṫ jam sang na faasėh.

Meditating in remembrance of the Guru, one is not strangled by the noose of Death.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਾਟੇ ਅਪਮਾਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥

Gur simraṫ man nirmal hovæ gur kaaté apmaanaa hé. ||2||

Meditating in remembrance of the Guru, the mind becomes immaculate; the Guru eliminates egotistical pride. ||2||

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥

Gur kaa sévak narak na jaa▫é.

The Guru’s servant is not consigned to hell.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥

Gur kaa sévak paarbarahm ḋʱi▫aa▫é.

The Guru’s servant meditates on the Supreme Lord God.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਦਾ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥

Gur kaa sévak saaḋʱsang paa▫é gur karḋaa niṫ jee▫a ḋaanaa hé. ||3||

The Guru’s servant joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; the Guru ever gives the life of the soul. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ॥

Gur ḋu▫aaræ har keerṫan suṇee▫æ.

At the Gurdwara, the Guru’s Gate, the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises are sung.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਣੀਐ ॥

Saṫgur bʱét har jas mukʱ bʱaṇee▫æ.

Meeting with the True Guru, one chants the Lord’s Praises.

ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੪॥

Kal kalés mitaa▫é saṫgur har ḋargėh ḋévæ maanaaᴺ hé. ||4||

The True Guru eradicates sorrow and suffering, and bestows honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4||

ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥

Agam agochar guroo ḋikʱaa▫i▫aa.

The Guru has revealed the inaccessible and unfathomable Lord.

ਭੂਲਾ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

Bʱoolaa maarag saṫgur paa▫i▫aa.

The True Guru returns to the Path, those who have wandered away.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੑਾਇਆ ਗਿਆਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੫॥

Gur sévak ka▫o bigʱan na bʱagṫee har poor ḋariṛ▫aa▫i▫aa gi▫aanaaᴺ hé. ||5||

No obstacles stand in the way of devotion to the Lord, for one who serves the Guru. The Guru implants perfect spiritual wisdom. ||5||

ਗੁਰਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ਸਭਨੀ ਠਾਂਈ ॥

Gur ḋaristaa▫i▫aa sabʱnee tʱaaᴺ▫ee.

The Guru has revealed the Lord everywhere.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥

Jal ṫʱal poor rahi▫aa gosaa▫ee.

The Lord of the Universe is permeating and pervading the water and the land.

ਊਚ ਊਨ ਸਭ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥

Ūch oon sabʱ ék samaanaaᴺ man laagaa sahj ḋʱi▫aanaa hé. ||6||

The high and the low are all the same to Him. Focus your mind’s meditation intuitively on Him. ||6||

ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਭ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥

Gur mili▫æ sabʱ ṫarisan bujʱaa▫ee.

Meeting with the Guru, all thirst is quenched.

ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਨਹ ਜੋਹੈ ਮਾਈ ॥

Gur mili▫æ nah johæ maa▫ee.

Meeting with the Guru, one is not watched by Maya.

ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀ ਪਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੭॥

Saṫ sanṫokʱ ḋee▫aa gur pooræ naam amriṫ pee paanaaᴺ hé. ||7||

The Perfect Guru bestows truth and contentment; I drink the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||7||

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

Gur kee baṇee sabʱ maahi samaaṇee.

The Word of the Guru’s Bani is contained in all.

ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥

Āp suṇee ṫæ aap vakʱaaṇee.

He Himself hears it, and He Himself repeats it.

ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਪੀ ਤੇਈ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਸਤ੍ਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੮॥

Jin jin japee ṫé▫ee sabʱ nisṫaré ṫin paa▫i▫aa nihchal ṫʱaanaaᴺ hé. ||8||

Those who meditate on it, are all emancipated; they attain the eternal and unchanging home. ||8||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

Saṫgur kee mahimaa saṫgur jaaṇæ.

The Glory of the True Guru is known only to the True Guru.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪਣ ਭਾਣੈ ॥

Jo kichʱ karé so aapaṇ bʱaaṇæ.

Whatever He does, is according to the Pleasure of His Will.

ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਹੇ ॥੯॥੧॥੪॥

Saaḋʱoo ḋʱoor jaachėh jan ṫéré Naanak saḋ kurbaanaaᴺ hé. ||9||1||4||

Your humble servants beg for the dust of the feet of the Holy; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||9||1||4||

Maaroo, Solahas, Fifth Mehl:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Ik▫oaᴺkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ.

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਆਦਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥

Āḋ niranjan parabʱ nirankaaraa.

The Primal, Immaculate Lord God is formless.

ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥

Sabʱ mėh varṫæ aap niraaraa.

The Detached Lord is Himself prevailing in all.

ਵਰਨੁ ਜਾਤਿ ਚਿਹਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਭ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥

varan jaaṫ chihan nahee ko▫ee sabʱ hukmé sarisat upaa▫iḋaa. ||1||

He has no race or social class, no identifying mark. By the Hukam of His Will, He created the entire universe. ||1||

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੋਨਿ ਸਬਾਈ ॥

Lakʱ cha▫oraaseeh jon sabaa▫ee.

Out of all the 8.4 million species of beings,

ਮਾਣਸ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੀਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

Maaṇas ka▫o parabʱ ḋee▫ee vadi▫aa▫ee.

God blessed mankind with glory.

ਇਸੁ ਪਉੜੀ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਨਰੁ ਚੂਕੈ ਸੋ ਆਇ ਜਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥

Is pa▫oṛee ṫé jo nar chookæ so aa▫é jaa▫é ḋukʱ paa▫iḋaa. ||2||

That human who misses this chance, shall suffer the pains of coming and going in reincarnation. ||2||

ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ॥

Keeṫaa hovæ ṫis ki▫aa kahee▫æ.

What should I say, to one who has been created.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥

Gurmukʱ naam paḋaaraṫʱ lahee▫æ.

The Gurmukh receives the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਭੂਲੈ ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥

Jis aap bʱulaa▫é so▫ee bʱoolæ so boojʱæ jisahi bujʱaa▫iḋaa. ||3||

He alone is confused, whom the Lord Himself confuses. He alone understands whom the Lord inspires to understand. ||3||

ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਨਗਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਆ ॥

Harakʱ sog kaa nagar ih kee▫aa.

This body has been made the village of joy and sorrow.

ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀਆ ॥

Sé ubré jo saṫgur sarṇee▫aa.

They alone are emancipated, who seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru.

ਤ੍ਰਿਹਾ ਗੁਣਾ ਤੇ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥

Ŧarihaa guṇaa ṫé rahæ niraaraa so gurmukʱ sobʱaa paa▫iḋaa. ||4||

One who remains untouched by the three qualities, the three gunas - such a Gurmukh is blessed with glory. ||4||

ਅਨਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ॥

Anik karam kee▫é bahuṫéré.

You may do innumerable deeds,

ਜੋ ਕੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਬੰਧਨੁ ਪੈਰੇ ॥

Jo keejæ so banḋʱan pæré.

but whatever you do, only serves to tie your feet.

ਕੁਰੁਤਾ ਬੀਜੁ ਬੀਜੇ ਨਹੀ ਜੰਮੈ ਸਭੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥

Kuruṫaa beej beejé nahee jammæ sabʱ laahaa mool gavaa▫iḋaa. ||5||

The seed which is planted out of season does not sprout, and all one’s capital and profits are lost. ||5||

ਕਲਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ॥

Kaljug mėh keerṫan parḋʱaanaa.

In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises are most sublime and exalted.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥

Gurmukʱ japee▫æ laa▫é ḋʱi▫aanaa.

Become Gurmukh, chant and focus your meditation.

ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਜਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥

Āp ṫaræ saglé kul ṫaaré har ḋargėh paṫ si▫o jaa▫iḋaa. ||6||

You shall save yourself, and save all your generations as well. You shall go to the Court of the Lord with honor. ||6||
