ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਛਾਜੈ ॥

Sagal bi▫aap rahi▫aa parabʱ chʱaajæ.

God is all-pervading, giving shade to all.

ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥

Sabʱ ṫéree ṫoo gurmukʱ jaaṫaa ḋar sohæ guṇ gaa▫iḋaa. ||10||

All belong to You; to the Gurmukhs, You are known. Singing Your Praises, they look beautiful in Your Court. ||10||

ਆਦਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸੋਈ ॥

Āḋ niranjan nirmal so▫ee.

He is the Primal Lord, immaculate and pure.

ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ॥

Avar na jaaṇaa ḋoojaa ko▫ee.

I know of no other at all.

ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬੁ ਗਵਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥

Ėkankaar vasæ man bʱaavæ ha▫umæ garab gavaa▫iḋaa. ||11||

The One Universal Creator Lord dwells within, and is pleasing to the mind of those who banish egotism and pride. ||11||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥

Amriṫ pee▫aa saṫgur ḋee▫aa.

I drink the Ambrosial Nectar, given by the True Guru.

ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਦੂਆ ਤੀਆ ॥

Avar na jaaṇaa ḋoo▫aa ṫee▫aa.

I do not know any other second or third.

ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਸੁ ਅਪਰ ਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਪਰਖਿ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥

Ėko ék so apar parampar parakʱ kʱajaanæ paa▫iḋaa. ||12||

He is the One, Unique, Infinite and Endless Lord; He evaluates all beings and places some in His treasury. ||12||

ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ॥

Gi▫aan ḋʱi▫aan sach gahir gambʱeeraa.

Spiritual wisdom and meditation on the True Lord are deep and profound.

ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਚੀਰਾ ॥

Ko▫é na jaaṇæ ṫéraa cheeraa.

No one knows Your expanse.

ਜੇਤੀ ਹੈ ਤੇਤੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥

Jéṫee hæ ṫéṫee ṫuḋʱ jaachæ karam milæ so paa▫iḋaa. ||13||

All that are, beg from You; You are attained only by Your Grace. ||13||

ਕਰਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੈ ॥

Karam ḋʱaram sach haaṫʱ ṫumaaræ.

You hold karma and Dharma in Your hands, O True Lord.

ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰੈ ॥

véparvaah akʱut bʱandaaræ.

O Independent Lord, Your treasures are inexhaustible.

ਤੂ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥

Ŧoo ḋa▫i▫aal kirpaal saḋaa parabʱ aapé mél milaa▫iḋaa. ||14||

You are forever kind and compassionate, God. You unite in Your Union. ||14||

ਆਪੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਆਪੇ ॥

Āpé ḋékʱ ḋikʱaavæ aapé.

You Yourself see, and cause Yourself to be seen.

ਆਪੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ਆਪੇ ॥

Āpé ṫʱaap uṫʱaapé aapé.

You Yourself establish, and You Yourself disestablish.

ਆਪੇ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥

Āpé joṛ vichʱoṛé karṫaa aapé maar jeevaa▫iḋaa. ||15||

The Creator Himself unites and separates; He Himself kills and rejuvenates. ||15||

ਜੇਤੀ ਹੈ ਤੇਤੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ॥

Jéṫee hæ ṫéṫee ṫuḋʱ anḋar.

As much as there is, is contained within You.

ਦੇਖਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਬਿਜ ਮੰਦਰਿ ॥

Ḏékʱėh aap bæs bij manḋar.

You gaze upon Your creation, sitting within Your royal palace.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੧॥੧੩॥

Naanak saach kahæ bénanṫee har ḋarsan sukʱ paa▫iḋaa. ||16||1||13||

Nanak offers this true prayer; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan, I have found peace. ||16||1||13||

ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Maaroo mėhlaa 1.

Maaroo, First Mehl:

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਾ ॥

Ḏarsan paavaa jé ṫuḋʱ bʱaavaa.

If I am pleasing to You, Lord, then I obtain the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.

ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥

Bʱaa▫é bʱagaṫ saaché guṇ gaavaa.

In loving devotional worship, O True Lord, I sing Your Glorious Praises.

ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣੇ ਤੂ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਆਪੇ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥

Ŧuḋʱ bʱaaṇé ṫoo bʱaavėh karṫé aapé rasan rasaa▫iḋaa. ||1||

By Your Will, O Creator Lord, You have become pleasing to me, and so sweet to my tongue. ||1||

ਸੋਹਨਿ ਭਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥

Sohan bʱagaṫ parabʱoo ḋarbaaré.

The devotees look beautiful in the Darbaar, the Court of God.

ਮੁਕਤੁ ਭਏ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥

Mukaṫ bʱa▫é har ḋaas ṫumaaré.

Your slaves, Lord, are liberated.

ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੨॥

Āp gavaa▫é ṫéræ rang raaṫé an▫ḋin naam ḋʱi▫aa▫iḋaa. ||2||

Eradicating self-conceit, they are attuned to Your Love; night and day, they meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

ਈਸਰੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਾ ॥

Eesar barahmaa ḋévee ḋévaa.

Shiva, Brahma, gods and goddesses,

ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਤਪੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥

Inḋar ṫapé mun ṫéree sévaa.

Indra, ascetics and silent sages serve You.

ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਕੇਤੇ ਬਨਵਾਸੀ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥

Jaṫee saṫee kéṫé banvaasee anṫ na ko▫ee paa▫iḋaa. ||3||

Celibates, givers of charity and the many forest-dwellers have not found the Lord’s limits. ||3||

ਵਿਣੁ ਜਾਣਾਏ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

viṇ jaaṇaa▫é ko▫é na jaaṇæ.

No one knows You, unless You let them know You.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪਣ ਭਾਣੈ ॥

Jo kichʱ karé so aapaṇ bʱaaṇæ.

Whatever is done, is by Your Will.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੀਅ ਉਪਾਏ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਾਹ ਲਵਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥

Lakʱ cha▫oraaseeh jee▫a upaa▫é bʱaaṇæ saah lavaa▫iḋaa. ||4||

You created the 8.4 million species of beings; by Your Will, they draw their breath. ||4||

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

Jo ṫis bʱaavæ so nihcha▫o hovæ.

Whatever is pleasing to Your Will, undoubtedly comes to pass.

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਏ ਰੋਵੈ ॥

Manmukʱ aap gaṇaa▫é rovæ.

The self-willed Manmukh shows off, and comes to grief.

ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੁਲਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਆਇ ਜਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥

Naavhu bʱulaa tʱa▫ur na paa▫é aa▫é jaa▫é ḋukʱ paa▫iḋaa. ||5||

Forgetting the Name, he finds no place of rest; coming and going in reincarnation, he suffers in pain. ||5||

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਾਇਆ ਊਜਲ ਹੰਸਾ ॥

Nirmal kaa▫i▫aa oojal hansaa.

Pure is the body, and immaculate is the swan-soul;

ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਅੰਸਾ ॥

Ŧis vich naam niranjan ansaa.

within it is the immaculate essence of the Naam.

ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਪੀਵੈ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥

Saglé ḋookʱ amriṫ kar peevæ baahuṛ ḋookʱ na paa▫iḋaa. ||6||

Such a being drinks in all his pains like Ambrosial Nectar; he never suffers sorrow again. ||6||

ਬਹੁ ਸਾਦਹੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

Baho saaḋahu ḋookʱ paraapaṫ hovæ.

For his excessive indulgences, he receives only pain;

ਭੋਗਹੁ ਰੋਗ ਸੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਵਿਗੋਵੈ ॥

Bʱogahu rog so anṫ vigovæ.

from his enjoyments, he contracts diseases, and in the end, he wastes away.

ਹਰਖਹੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਕਬਹੂ ਵਿਣੁ ਭਾਣੇ ਭਰਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥

Harkʱahu sog na mit▫ee kabhoo viṇ bʱaaṇé bʱarmaa▫iḋaa. ||7||

His pleasure can never erase his pain; without accepting the Lord’s Will, he wanders lost and confused. ||7||

ਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਹੂਣੀ ਭਵੈ ਸਬਾਈ ॥

Gi▫aan vihooṇee bʱavæ sabaa▫ee.

Without spiritual wisdom, they all just wander around.

ਸਾਚਾ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥

Saachaa rav rahi▫aa liv laa▫ee.

The True Lord is pervading and permeating everywhere, lovingly engaged.

ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥

Nirbʱa▫o sabaḋ guroo sach jaaṫaa joṫee joṫ milaa▫iḋaa. ||8||

The Fearless Lord is known through the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru; one’s light merges into the Light. ||8||

ਅਟਲੁ ਅਡੋਲੁ ਅਤੋਲੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥

Atal adol aṫol muraaré.

He is the eternal, unchanging, immeasurable Lord.

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਢਾਹੇ ਫੇਰਿ ਉਸਾਰੇ ॥

Kʱin mėh dʱaahi fér usaaré.

In an instant, He destroys, and then reconstructs.

ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਪਤੀਆਇਦਾ ॥੯॥

Roop na rékʱ▫i▫aa miṫ nahee keemaṫ sabaḋ bʱéḋ paṫee▫aa▫iḋaa. ||9||

He has no form or shape, no limit or value. Pierced by the Shabad, one is satisfied. ||9||

ਹਮ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

Ham ḋaasan ké ḋaas pi▫aaré.

I am the slave of Your slaves, O my Beloved.
