937 ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੪੭॥ Aap ga▫i▫aa ḋukʰ kati▫aa har var paa▫i▫aa naar. ||47|| Self-conceit is eliminated, and pain is eradicated; the soul bride obtains her Husband Lord. ||47|| ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਸੰਚੀਐ ਧਨੁ ਕਾਚਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਛਾਰੁ ॥ Su▫inaa rupaa sanchee▫æ ḋʰan kaachaa bikʰ chʰaar. He hoards gold and silver, but this wealth is false and poisonous, nothing more than ashes. ਸਾਹੁ ਸਦਾਏ ਸੰਚਿ ਧਨੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ Saahu saḋaa▫é sanch ḋʰan ḋubiḋʰaa ho▫é kʰu▫aar. He calls himself a banker, gathering wealth, but he is ruined by his dual-mindedness. ਸਚਿਆਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਸਾਚਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲੁ ॥ Sachi▫aaree sach sanchi▫aa saacha▫o naam amol. The truthful ones gather Truth; the True Name is priceless. ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਾਇਲੁ ਊਜਲੋ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲੁ ॥ Har nirmaa▫il oojlo paṫ saachee sach bol. The Lord is immaculate and pure; through Him, their honor is true, and their speech is true. ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਤੂ ਤੂ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਤੂ ਹੰਸੁ ॥ Saajan meeṫ sujaaṇ ṫoo ṫoo sarvar ṫoo hans. You are my friend and companion, all-knowing Lord; You are the lake, and You are the swan. ਸਾਚਉ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ॥ Saacha▫o tʰaakur man vasæ ha▫o balihaaree ṫis. I am a sacrifice to that being, whose mind is filled with the True Lord and Master. ਮਾਇਆ ਮਮਤਾ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥ Maa▫i▫aa mamṫaa mohṇee jin keeṫee so jaaṇ. Know the One who created love and attachment to Maya, the Enticer. ਬਿਖਿਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥੪੮॥ Bikʰi▫aa amriṫ ék hæ boojʰæ purakʰ sujaaṇ. ||48|| One who realizes the all-knowing Primal Lord, looks alike upon poison and nectar. ||48|| ਖਿਮਾ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਖਪਿ ਗਏ ਖੂਹਣਿ ਲਖ ਅਸੰਖ ॥ Kʰimaa vihooṇé kʰap ga▫é kʰoohaṇ lakʰ asaⁿkʰ. Without patience and forgiveness, countless hundreds of thousands have perished. ਗਣਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਿਉ ਗਣੀ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਸੰਖ ॥ Gaṇaṫ na aavæ ki▫o gaṇee kʰap kʰap mu▫é bisankʰ. Their numbers cannot be counted; how could I count them? Bothered and bewildered, uncounted numbers have died. ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਖੂਲੈ ਬੰਧੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ Kʰasam pachʰaaṇæ aapṇaa kʰoolæ banḋʰ na paa▫é. One who realizes his Lord and Master is set free, and not bound by chains. ਸਬਦਿ ਮਹਲੀ ਖਰਾ ਤੂ ਖਿਮਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਖ ਭਾਇ ॥ Sabaḋ mahlee kʰaraa ṫoo kʰimaa sach sukʰ bʰaa▫é. Through the Word of the Shabad, enter the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence; you shall be blessed with patience, forgiveness, truth and peace. ਖਰਚੁ ਖਰਾ ਧਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਵਸਹਿ ਸਰੀਰਿ ॥ Kʰarach kʰaraa ḋʰan ḋʰi▫aan ṫoo aapé vasėh sareer. Partake of the true wealth of meditation, and the Lord Himself shall abide within your body. ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਧੀਰ ॥ Man ṫan mukʰ jaapæ saḋaa guṇ anṫar man ḋʰeer. With mind, body and mouth, chant His Glorious Virtues forever; courage and composure shall enter deep within your mind. ਹਉਮੈ ਖਪੈ ਖਪਾਇਸੀ ਬੀਜਉ ਵਥੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥ Ha▫umæ kʰapæ kʰapaa▫isee beeja▫o vaṫʰ vikaar. Through egotism, one is distracted and ruined; other than the Lord, all things are corrupt. ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਲਗੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੪੯॥ Janṫ upaa▫é vich paa▫i▫an karṫaa alag apaar. ||49|| Forming His creatures, He placed Himself within them; the Creator is unattached and infinite. ||49|| ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟੇ ਭੇਉ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ Saristé bʰé▫o na jaaṇæ ko▫é. No one knows the mystery of the Creator of the World. ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਉ ਹੋਇ ॥ Saristaa karæ so nihcha▫o ho▫é. Whatever the Creator of the World does, is certain to occur. ਸੰਪੈ ਕਉ ਈਸਰੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥ Sampæ ka▫o eesar ḋʰi▫aa▫ee▫æ. For wealth, some meditate on the Lord. ਸੰਪੈ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਕੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ Sampæ purab likʰé kee paa▫ee▫æ. By preordained destiny, wealth is obtained. ਸੰਪੈ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਚਾਕਰ ਚੋਰ ॥ Sampæ kaaraṇ chaakar chor. For the sake of wealth, some become servants or thieves. ਸੰਪੈ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ਹੋਰ ॥ Sampæ saaṫʰ na chaalæ hor. Wealth does not go along with them when they die; it passes into the hands of others. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ Bin saaché nahee ḋargėh maan. Without Truth, honor is not obtained in the Court of the Lord. ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਛੁਟੈ ਨਿਦਾਨਿ ॥੫੦॥ Har ras peevæ chʰutæ niḋaan. ||50|| Drinking in the subtle essence of the Lord, one is emancipated in the end. ||50|| ਹੇਰਤ ਹੇਰਤ ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈਰਾਨੁ ॥ Héraṫ héraṫ hé sakʰee ho▫é rahee hæraan. Seeing and perceiving, O my companions, I am wonder-struck and amazed. ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤੀ ਮੈ ਮੁਈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥ Ha▫o ha▫o karṫee mæ mu▫ee sabaḋ ravæ man gi▫aan. My egotism, which proclaimed itself in possessiveness and self-conceit, is dead. My mind chants the Word of the Shabad, and attains spiritual wisdom. ਹਾਰ ਡੋਰ ਕੰਕਨ ਘਣੇ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ Haar dor kankan gʰaṇé kar ṫʰaakee seegaar. I am so tired of wearing all these necklaces, hair-ties and bracelets, and decorating myself. ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਗਲ ਗੁਣਾ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰੁ ॥ Mil pareeṫam sukʰ paa▫i▫aa sagal guṇaa gal haar. Meeting with my Beloved, I have found peace; now, I wear the necklace of total virtue. ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ Naanak gurmukʰ paa▫ee▫æ har si▫o pareeṫ pi▫aar. O Nanak! The Gurmukh attains the Lord, with love and affection. ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ Har bin kin sukʰ paa▫i▫aa ḋékʰhu man beechaar. Without the Lord, who has found peace? Reflect upon this in your mind, and see. ਹਰਿ ਪੜਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਬੁਝਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ Har paṛ▫ṇaa har bujʰ▫ṇaa har si▫o rakʰahu pi▫aar. Read about the Lord, understand the Lord, and enshrine love for the Lord. ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੫੧॥ Har japee▫æ har ḋʰi▫aa▫ee▫æ har kaa naam aḋʰaar. ||51|| Chant the Lord’s Name, and meditate on the Lord; hold tight to the Support of the Name of the Lord. ||51|| ਲੇਖੁ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥ Lékʰ na mit▫ee hé sakʰee jo likʰi▫aa karṫaar. The inscription inscribed by the Creator Lord cannot be erased, O my companions. ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਗੁ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ Aapé kaaraṇ jin kee▫aa kar kirpaa pag ḋʰaar. He who created the universe, in His Mercy, installs His Feet within us. ਕਰਤੇ ਹਥਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ Karṫé haṫʰ vaḋi▫aa▫ee▫aa boojʰhu gur beechaar. Glorious greatness rests in the Hands of the Creator; reflect upon the Guru, and understand this. ਲਿਖਿਆ ਫੇਰਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਐ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੀ ਤਿਉ ਸਾਰਿ ॥ Likʰi▫aa fér na sakee▫æ ji▫o bʰaavee ṫi▫o saar. This inscription cannot be challenged. As it pleases You, You care for me. ਨਦਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ Naḋar ṫéree sukʰ paa▫i▫aa Naanak sabaḋ veechaar. By Your Glance of Grace, I have found peace; O Nanak! Reflect upon the Shabad. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਉਬਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ Manmukʰ bʰoolé pach mu▫é ubré gur beechaar. The self-willed Manmukhs are confused; they rot away and die. Only by reflecting upon the Guru can they be saved. ਜਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ Jė purakʰ naḋar na aavee ṫis kaa ki▫aa kar kahi▫aa jaa▫é. What can anyone say about that Primal Lord, who cannot be seen? ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦਿਤਾ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੫੨॥ Balihaaree gur aapṇé jin hirḋæ ḋiṫaa ḋikʰaa▫é. ||52|| I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who has revealed Him to me, within my own heart. ||52|| ਪਾਧਾ ਪੜਿਆ ਆਖੀਐ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਰੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ Paaḋʰaa paṛi▫aa aakʰee▫æ biḋi▫aa bichræ sahj subʰaa▫é. That Pandit, that religious scholar, is said to be well-educated, if he contemplates knowledge with intuitive ease. |
