ਜਬ ਉਸ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

Jab us ka▫o ko▫ee ḋévæ maan.

When someone tries to appease her,

ਤਬ ਆਪਸ ਊਪਰਿ ਰਖੈ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥

Ṫab aapas oopar rakʰæ gumaan.

then she takes pride in herself.

ਜਬ ਉਸ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥

Jab us ka▫o ko▫ee man par▫haræ.

But when someone puts her out of his thoughts,

ਤਬ ਓਹ ਸੇਵਕਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥

Ṫab oh sévak sévaa karæ. ||2||

then she serves him like a slave. ||2||

ਮੁਖਿ ਬੇਰਾਵੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਠਗਾਵੈ ॥

Mukʰ béraavæ anṫ tʰagaavæ.

She seems to please, but in the end, she deceives.

ਇਕਤੁ ਠਉਰ ਓਹ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥

Ikaṫ tʰa▫ur oh kahee na samaavæ.

She does not remain in any one place.

ਉਨਿ ਮੋਹੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ॥

Un mohé bahuṫé barahmand.

She has bewitched a great many worlds.

ਰਾਮ ਜਨੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਖੰਡ ਖੰਡ ॥੩॥

Raam janee keenee kʰand kʰand. ||3||

The Lord’s humble servants cut her apart into pieces. ||3||

ਜੋ ਮਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਭੂਖਾ ਰਹੈ ॥

Jo maagæ so bʰookʰaa rahæ.

Whoever begs from her remains hungry.

ਇਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਚੈ ਸੁ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਲਹੈ ॥

Is sang raachæ so kachʰoo na lahæ.

Whoever is infatuated with her obtains nothing.

ਇਸਹਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥

Isėh ṫi▫aag saṫsangaṫ karæ.

But one who renounces her, and joins the Society of the Saints,

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੨੯॥

vadbʰaagee Naanak oh ṫaræ. ||4||18||29||

by great good fortune, O Nanak! Is saved. ||4||18||29||

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raamkalee mėhlaa 5.

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:

ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਰਬ ਮਹਿ ਪੇਖੁ ॥

Aaṫam raam sarab mėh pékʰ.

See the Lord, the Universal Soul, in all.

ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕੁ ॥

Pooran poor rahi▫aa parabʰ ék.

The One God is perfect, and all-pervading.

ਰਤਨੁ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਰਿਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥

Raṫan amol riḋé mėh jaan.

Know that the priceless jewel is within your own heart.

ਅਪਨੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਤੂ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਨੁ ॥੧॥

Apnee vasaṫ ṫoo aap pachʰaan. ||1||

Realize that your essence is within your own self. ||1||

ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Pee amriṫ sanṫan parsaaḋ.

drink the Ambrosial Nectar, by the Grace of the Saints.

ਵਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੁਆਦੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

vadé bʰaag hovėh ṫa▫o paa▫ee▫æ bin jihvaa ki▫aa jaaṇæ su▫aaḋ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.

One who is blessed with high destiny, obtains it. Without a tongue, how can one know the taste? ||1||Pause||

ਅਠ ਦਸ ਬੇਦ ਸੁਨੇ ਕਹ ਡੋਰਾ ॥

Atʰ ḋas béḋ suné kah doraa.

How can a deaf person listen to the eighteen Puranas and the Vedas?

ਕੋਟਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਨ ਦਿਸੈ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥

Kot pargaas na ḋisæ anḋʰéraa.

The blind man cannot see even a million lights.

ਪਸੂ ਪਰੀਤਿ ਘਾਸ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਚੈ ॥

Pasoo pareeṫ gʰaas sang rachæ.

The beast loves grass, and remains attached to it.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਹੀ ਬੁਝਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਬੁਝੈ ॥੨॥

Jis nahee bujʰaavæ so kiṫ biḋʰ bujʰæ. ||2||

One who has not been taught - how can he understand? ||2||

ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਨਿ ॥

Jaanaṇhaar rahi▫aa parabʰ jaan.

God, the Knower, knows all.

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਭਗਤਨ ਸੰਗਾਨਿ ॥

Oṫ poṫ bʰagṫan sangaan.

He is with His devotees, through and through.

ਬਿਗਸਿ ਬਿਗਸਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗਾਵਹਿ ॥

Bigas bigas apunaa parabʰ gaavahi.

Those who sing God’s Praises with joy and delight,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ॥੩॥੧੯॥੩੦॥

Naanak ṫin jam néṛ na aavahi. ||3||19||30||

O Nanak - the Messenger of Death does not even approach them. ||3||19||30||

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raamkalee mėhlaa 5.

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:

ਦੀਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੀਓ ਪਵਿਤੁ ॥

Ḋeeno naam kee▫o paviṫ.

Blessing me with His Name, He has purified and sanctified me.

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਇਹ ਬਿਤੁ ॥

Har ḋʰan raas niraas ih biṫ.

The Lord’s wealth is my capital. False hope has left me; this is my wealth.

ਕਾਟੀ ਬੰਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥

Kaatee banḋʰ har sévaa laa▫é.

Breaking my bonds, the Lord has linked me to His service.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੧॥

Har har bʰagaṫ raam guṇ gaa▫é. ||1||

I am a devotee of the Lord, Har, Har; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||

ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਜਾ ॥

Baajé anhaḋ baajaa.

The unstruck sound current vibrates and resounds.

ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੈ ਗੁਰਦੇਵਿ ਨਿਵਾਜਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Rasak rasak guṇ gaavahi har jan apnæ gurḋév nivaajaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.

The Lord’s humble servants sing His Glorious Praises with love and delight; they are honored by the Divine Guru. ||1||Pause||

ਆਇ ਬਨਿਓ ਪੂਰਬਲਾ ਭਾਗੁ ॥

Aa▫é bani▫o poorbalaa bʰaag.

My preordained destiny has been activated;

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਸੋਇਆ ਜਾਗੁ ॥

Janam janam kaa so▫i▫aa jaag.

I have awakened from the sleep of countless incarnations.

ਗਈ ਗਿਲਾਨਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥

Ga▫ee gilaan saaḋʰ kæ sang.

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, my aversion is gone.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਾਤੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥

Man ṫan raaṫo har kæ rang. ||2||

My mind and body are imbued with love for the Lord. ||2||

ਰਾਖੇ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਦਇਆਲ ॥

Raakʰé raakʰanhaar ḋa▫i▫aal.

The Merciful Savior Lord has saved me.

ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਘਾਲ ॥

Naa kichʰ sévaa naa kichʰ gʰaal.

I have no service or work to my credit.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਇਆ ॥

Kar kirpaa parabʰ keenee ḋa▫i▫aa.

In His Mercy, God has taken pity on me;

ਬੂਡਤ ਦੁਖ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲਇਆ ॥੩॥

Boodaṫ ḋukʰ mėh kaadʰ la▫i▫aa. ||3||

He lifted me up and pulled me out, when I was suffering in pain. ||3||

ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਉ ॥

Suṇ suṇ upji▫o man mėh chaa▫o.

Listening, listening to His Praises, joy has welled up within my mind.

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥

Aatʰ pahar har ké guṇ gaa▫o.

Twenty-four hours a day, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਗਾਵਤ ਗਾਵਤ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

Gaavaṫ gaavaṫ param gaṫ paa▫ee.

Singing, singing His Praises, I have obtained the supreme-status.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੩੧॥

Gur parsaaḋ Naanak liv laa▫ee. ||4||20||31||

By Guru’s Grace, Nanak is lovingly focused on the Lord. ||4||20||31||

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raamkalee mėhlaa 5.

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੈ ਤਿਆਗੈ ਰਤਨੁ ॥

Ka▫udee baḋlæ ṫi▫aagæ raṫan.

In exchange for a shell, he gives up a jewel.

ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਇ ਤਾਹੂ ਕਾ ਜਤਨੁ ॥

Chʰod jaa▫é ṫaahoo kaa jaṫan.

He tries to get what he must give up.

ਸੋ ਸੰਚੈ ਜੋ ਹੋਛੀ ਬਾਤ ॥

So sanchæ jo hochʰee baaṫ.

He collects those things which are worthless.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਟੇਢਉ ਜਾਤ ॥੧॥

Maa▫i▫aa mohi▫aa tédʰa▫o jaaṫ. ||1||

Enticed by Maya, he takes the crooked path. ||1||

ਅਭਾਗੇ ਤੈ ਲਾਜ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

Abʰaagé ṫæ laaj naahee.

You unfortunate man - have you no shame?

ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Sukʰ saagar pooran parmésar har na chéṫi▫o man maahee. ||1|| rahaa▫o.

You do not remember in your mind the ocean of peace, the perfect Transcendent Lord God. ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਉਰਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮੀਠੀ ॥

Amriṫ ka▫uraa bikʰi▫aa meetʰee.

Nectar seems bitter to you, and poison is sweet.

ਸਾਕਤ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਨੈਨਹੁ ਡੀਠੀ ॥

Saakaṫ kee biḋʰ nænhu deetʰee.

Such is your condition, you faithless cynic, which I have seen with my own eyes.

ਕੂੜਿ ਕਪਟਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਰੀਝਾਨਾ ॥

Kooṛ kapat ahaⁿkaar reejʰaanaa.

You are fond of falsehood, fraud and egotism.
