ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੩

Raag Soohee, Fifth Mehl, Third House:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Ik▫oaⁿkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ.

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਮਿਥਨ ਮੋਹ ਅਗਨਿ ਸੋਕ ਸਾਗਰ ॥

Miṫʰan moh agan sok saagar.

Attachment to sex is an ocean of fire and pain.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਉਧਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਗਰ ॥੧॥

Kar kirpaa uḋʰar har naagar. ||1||

By Your Grace, O Sublime Lord, please save me from it. ||1||

ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥

Charaṇ kamal sarṇaa▫é naraa▫iṇ.

I seek the Sanctuary of the Lotus Feet of the Lord.

ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Ḋeenaa naaṫʰ bʰagaṫ paraa▫iṇ. ||1|| rahaa▫o.

He is the Master of the meek, the Support of His devotees. ||1||Pause||

ਅਨਾਥਾ ਨਾਥ ਭਗਤ ਭੈ ਮੇਟਨ ॥

Anaaṫʰaa naaṫʰ bʰagaṫ bʰæ métan.

Master of the masterless, Patron of the forlorn, Eradicator of fear of His devotees.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਨ ਭੇਟਨ ॥੨॥

Saaḋʰsang jamḋooṫ na bʰétan. ||2||

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Messenger of Death cannot even touch them. ||2||

ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥

Jeevan roop anoop ḋa▫i▫aalaa.

The Merciful, Incomparably Beautiful, Embodiment of Life.

ਰਵਣ ਗੁਣਾ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਜਾਲਾ ॥੩॥

Ravaṇ guṇaa katee▫æ jam jaalaa. ||3||

Vibrating the Glorious Virtues of the Lord, the noose of the Messenger of Death is cut away. ||3||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੈ ॥

Amriṫ naam rasan niṫ jaapæ.

One who constantly chants the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam with his tongue,

ਰੋਗ ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥੪॥

Rog roop maa▫i▫aa na bi▫aapæ. ||4||

is not touched or affected by Maya, the embodiment of disease. ||4||

ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਭਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥

Jap gobinḋ sangee sabʰ ṫaaré.

Chant and meditate on God, the Lord of the Universe, and all of your companions shall be carried across;

ਪੋਹਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ॥੫॥

Pohaṫ naahee panch batvaaré. ||5||

the five thieves will not even approach. ||5||

ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥

Man bach karam parabʰ ék ḋʰi▫aa▫é.

One who meditates on the One God in thought, word and deed -

ਸਰਬ ਫਲਾ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥

Sarab falaa so▫ee jan paa▫é. ||6||

that humble being receives the fruits of all rewards. ||6||

ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥

Ḋʰaar anoograhu apnaa parabʰ keenaa.

Showering His Mercy, God has made me His own;

ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਨਾ ॥੭॥

Kéval naam bʰagaṫ ras ḋeenaa. ||7||

He has blessed me with the unique and singular Naam, and the sublime essence of devotion. ||7||

ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥

Aaḋ maḋʰ anṫ parabʰ so▫ee.

In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, He is God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੮॥੧॥੨॥

Naanak ṫis bin avar na ko▫ee. ||8||1||2||

O Nanak! Without Him, there is no other at all. ||8||1||2||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Ik▫oaⁿkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ.

ਜਿਨ ਡਿਠਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਸੀਐ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਤਿਨੑ ਸੰਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥

Jin ditʰi▫aa man rėhsee▫æ ki▫o paa▫ee▫æ ṫinĥ sang jee▫o.

Gazing upon them, my mind is enraptured. How can I join them and be with them?

ਸੰਤ ਸਜਨ ਮਨ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੇ ਲਾਇਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥

Sanṫ sajan man miṫar sé laa▫in parabʰ si▫o rang jee▫o.

They are Saints and friends, good friends of my mind, who inspire me and help me tune in to God’s Love.

ਤਿਨੑ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਭੰਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

Ṫinĥ si▫o pareeṫ na ṫut▫ee kabahu na hovæ bʰang jee▫o. ||1||

My love for them shall never die; it shall never, ever be broken. ||1||

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਉ ॥

Paarbarahm parabʰ kar ḋa▫i▫aa guṇ gaavaa ṫéré niṫ jee▫o.

O Supreme Lord God, please grant me Your Grace, that I might constantly sing Your Glorious Praises.

ਆਇ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਸਜਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹ ਮਨ ਮਿਤ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Aa▫é milhu sanṫ sajṇaa naam japah man miṫ jee▫o. ||1|| rahaa▫o.

Come, and meet with me, O Saints, and good friends; let us chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the Best Friend of my mind. ||1||Pause||

ਦੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੇ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਅੰਧੁ ਜੀਉ ॥

Ḋékʰæ suṇé na jaaṇ▫ee maa▫i▫aa mohi▫aa anḋʰ jee▫o.

He does not see, he does not hear, and he does not understand; he is blind, enticed and bewitched by Maya.

ਕਾਚੀ ਦੇਹਾ ਵਿਣਸਣੀ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਧੰਧੁ ਜੀਉ ॥

Kaachee ḋéhaa viṇsaṇee kooṛ kamaavæ ḋʰanḋʰ jee▫o.

His body is false and transitory; it shall perish. And still, he entangles himself in false pursuits.

ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਿਣਿ ਚਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

Naam ḋʰi▫aavahi sé jiṇ chalé gur pooré san▫banḋʰ jee▫o. ||2||

They alone depart victorious, who have meditated on the Naam; they stick with the Perfect Guru. ||2||

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਚਲਣੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਜੀਉ ॥

Hukmé jug mėh aa▫i▫aa chalaṇ hukam sanjog jee▫o.

By the Hukam of God’s Will, they come into this world, and they leave upon receipt of His Hukam.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਕਰੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਜੀਉ ॥

Hukmé parpanch pasri▫aa hukam karé ras bʰog jee▫o.

By His Hukam, the Expanse of the Universe is expanded. By His Hukam, they enjoy pleasures.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਸੋਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

Jis no karṫaa visræ ṫisėh vichʰoṛaa sog jee▫o. ||3||

One who forgets the Creator Lord, suffers sorrow and separation. ||3||

ਆਪਨੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥

Aapnaṛé parabʰ bʰaaṇi▫aa ḋargėh pæḋʰaa jaa▫é jee▫o.

One who is pleasing to his God, goes to His Court dressed in robes of honor.

ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਮੁਖੁ ਉਜਲਾ ਇਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਉ ॥

Æṫʰæ sukʰ mukʰ ujlaa iko naam ḋʰi▫aa▫é jee▫o.

One who meditates on the Naam, the One Name, finds peace in this world; his face is radiant and bright.

ਆਦਰੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸਤ ਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥

Aaḋar ḋiṫaa paarbarahm gur sévi▫aa saṫ bʰaa▫é jee▫o. ||4||

The Supreme Lord confers honor and respect on those who serve the Guru with true love. ||4||

ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਜੀਉ ॥

Ṫʰaan ṫʰananṫar rav rahi▫aa sarab jee▫aa parṫipaal jee▫o.

He is pervading and permeating the spaces and interspaces; He loves and cherishes all beings.

ਸਚੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲ ਜੀਉ ॥

Sach kʰajaanaa sanchi▫aa ék naam ḋʰan maal jee▫o.

I have accumulated the true treasure, the wealth and riches of the One Name.

ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥

Man ṫé kabahu na veesræ jaa aapé ho▫é ḋa▫i▫aal jee▫o. ||5||

I shall never forget Him from my mind, since He has been so merciful to me. ||5||
