hastee ghorhay daykh vigaasaa.
He is pleased at the sight of his elephants and horses

lskr joVy nyb Kvwsw ] (176-1)
laskar jorhay nayb khavaasaa.
and his armies assembled, his servants and his soldiers.

gil jyvVI haumY ky Pwsw ]2] (176-1)
gal jayvrhee ha-umai kay faasaa. ||2||
But the noose of egotism is tightening around his neck. ||2||

rwju kmwvY dh ids swrI ] (176-1)
raaj kamaavai dah dis saaree.
His rule may extend in all ten directions;

mwxY rMg Bog bhu nwrI ] (176-2)
maanai rang bhog baho naaree.
he may revel in pleasures, and enjoy many women

ijau nrpiq supnY ByKwrI ]3] (176-2)
ji-o narpat supnai bhaykhaaree. ||3||
- but he is just a beggar, who in his dream, is a king. ||3||

eyku kuslu mo kau siqgurU bqwieAw ] (176-2)
ayk kusal mo ka-o satguroo bataa-i-aa.
The True Guru has shown me that there is only one pleasure.

hir jo ikCu kry su hir ikAw Bgqw BwieAw ] (176-3)
har jo kichh karay so har ki-aa bhagtaa bhaa-i-aa.
Whatever the Lord does, is pleasing to the Lord's devotee.

jn nwnk haumY mwir smwieAw ]4] (176-3)
jan naanak ha-umai maar samaa-i-aa. ||4||
Servant Nanak has abolished his ego, and he is absorbed in the Lord. ||4||

iein ibiD kusl hoq myry BweI ] (176-4)
in biDh kusal hot mayray bhaa-ee.
This is the way to find happiness, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ieau pweIAY hir rwm shweI ]1] rhwau dUjw ] (176-4)
i-o paa-ee-ai har raam sahaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o doojaa.
This is the way to find the Lord, our Help and Support. ||1||Second Pause||

ga-orhee gu-aarayree mehlaa 5.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:

ikau BRmIAY BRmu iks kw hoeI ] (176-5)
ki-o bharmee-ai bharam kis kaa ho-ee.
Why do you doubt? What do you doubt?

jw jil Qil mhIAil rivAw soeI ] (176-5)
jaa jal thal mahee-al ravi-aa so-ee.
God is pervading the water, the land and the sky.

gurmuiK aubry mnmuK piq KoeI ]1] (176-6)
gurmukh ubray manmukh pat kho-ee. ||1||
The Gurmukhs are saved, while the self-willed manmukhs lose their honor. ||1||

ijsu rwKY Awip rwmu dieAwrw ] (176-6)
jis raakhai aap raam da-i-aaraa.
One who is protected by the Merciful Lord

iqsu nhI dUjw ko phucnhwrw ]1] rhwau ] (176-6)
tis nahee doojaa ko pahuchanhaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
- no one else can rival him. ||1||Pause||

sB mih vrqY eyku Anµqw ] (176-7)
sabh meh vartai ayk anantaa.
The Infinite One is pervading among all.

qw qUM suiK soau hoie AicMqw ] (176-7)
taa tooN sukh so-o ho-ay achintaa.
So sleep in peace, and don't worry.

Ehu sBu ikCu jwxY jo vrqMqw ]2] (176-7)
oh sabh kichh jaanai jo vartantaa. ||2||
He knows everything which happens. ||2||

mnmuK muey ijn dUjI ipAwsw ] (176-8)
manmukh mu-ay jin doojee pi-aasaa.
The self-willed manmukhs are dying in the thirst of duality.

bhu jonI Bvih Duir ikriq iliKAwsw ] (176-8)
baho jonee bhaveh Dhur kirat likhi-aasaa.
They wander lost through countless incarnations; this is their pre-ordained destiny.

jYsw bIjih qYsw Kwsw ]3] (176-9)
jaisaa beejeh taisaa khaasaa. ||3||
As they plant, so shall they harvest. ||3||

dyiK drsu min BieAw ivgwsw ] (176-9)
daykh daras man bha-i-aa vigaasaa.
Beholding the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, my mind has blossomed forth.

sBu ndrI AwieAw bRhmu prgwsw ] (176-9)
sabh nadree aa-i-aa barahm pargaasaa.
And now everywhere I look, God is revealed to me.

ka-ee janam gaj meen kurangaa.
in so many incarnations, you were an elephant, a fish and a deer.

keI jnm pMKI srp hoieE ] (176-11)
ka-ee janam pankhee sarap ho-i-o.
In so many incarnations, you were a bird and a snake.

keI jnm hYvr ibRK joieE ]1] (176-11)
ka-ee janam haivar barikh jo-i-o. ||1||
In so many incarnations, you were yoked as an ox and a horse. ||1||

imlu jgdIs imln kI brIAw ] (176-12)
mil jagdees milan kee baree-aa.
Meet the Lord of the Universe - now is the time to meet Him.

chirankaal ih dayh sanjaree-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
After so very long, this human body was fashioned for you. ||1||Pause||

ka-ee janam sail gir kari-aa.
In so many incarnations, you were rocks and mountains;

keI jnm grB ihir KirAw ] (176-13)
ka-ee janam garabh hir khari-aa.
in so many incarnations, you were aborted in the womb;

keI jnm swK kir aupwieAw ] (176-13)
ka-ee janam saakh kar upaa-i-aa.
in so many incarnations, you developed branches and leaves;

lK caurwsIh join BRmwieAw ]2] (176-13)
lakh cha-oraaseeh jon bharmaa-i-aa. ||2||
you wandered through 8.4 million incarnations. ||2||

swDsMig BieE jnmu prwpiq ] (176-14)
saaDhsang bha-i-o janam paraapat.
Through the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you obtained this human life.

kir syvw Bju hir hir gurmiq ] (176-14)
kar sayvaa bhaj har har gurmat.
Do seva - selfless service; follow the Guru's Teachings, and vibrate the Lord's Name, Har, Har.

iqAwig mwnu JUTu AiBmwnu ] (176-14)
ti-aag maan jhooth abhimaan.
Abandon pride, falsehood and arrogance.

jIvq mrih drgh prvwnu ]3] (176-15)
jeevat mareh dargeh parvaan. ||3||
Remain dead while yet alive, and you shall be welcomed in the Court of the Lord. ||3||

jo ikCu hoAw su quJ qy hogu ] (176-15)
jo kichh ho-aa so tujh tay hog.
Whatever has been, and whatever shall be, comes from You, Lord.

Avru n dUjw krxY jogu ] (176-15)
avar na doojaa karnai jog.
No one else can do anything at all.

qw imlIAY jw lYih imlwie ] (176-16)
taa milee-ai jaa laihi milaa-ay.
We are united with You, when You unite us with Yourself.

khu nwnk hir hir gux gwie ]4]3]72] (176-16)
kaho naanak har har gun gaa-ay. ||4||3||72||
Says Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||3||72||

krm BUim mih boAhu nwmu ] (176-17)
karam bhoom meh bo-ahu naam.
In the field of karma, plant the seed of the Naam.

pUrn hoie qumwrw kwmu ] (176-17)
pooran ho-ay tumaaraa kaam.
Your works shall be brought to fruition.

Pl pwvih imtY jm qRws ] (176-17)
fal paavahi mitai jam taraas.
You shall obtain these fruits, and the fear of death shall be dispelled.

inq gwvih hir hir gux jws ]1] (176-18)
nit gaavahi har har gun jaas. ||1||
Sing continually the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

hir hir nwmu AMqir auir Dwir ] (176-18)
har har naam antar ur Dhaar.
Keep the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, enshrined in your heart,

sIGr kwrju lyhu svwir ]1] rhwau ] (176-19)
seeghar kaaraj layho savaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and your affairs shall be quickly resolved. ||1||Pause||

Apny pRB isau hohu swvDwnu ] (176-19)
apnay parabh si-o hohu saavDhaan.
Be always attentive to your God;

taa tooN dargeh paavahi maan.
thus you shall be honored in His Court.
