is kalijug meh karam Dharam na ko-ee.
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, no one is interested in good karma, or Dharmic faith.

klI kw jnmu cMfwl kY Gir hoeI ] (161-1)
kalee kaa janam chandaal kai ghar ho-ee.
This Dark Age was born in the house of evil.

nwnk nwm ibnw ko mukiq n hoeI ]4]10]30] (161-1)
naanak naam binaa ko mukat na ho-ee. ||4||10||30||
O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, no one is liberated. ||4||10||30||

ga-orhee mehlaa 3 gu-aarayree.
Gauree, Third Mehl, Gwaarayree:

scw Amru scw pwiqswhu ] (161-2)
sachaa amar sachaa paatisaahu.
True is the Lord King, True is His Royal Command.

min swcY rwqy hir vyprvwhu ] scY mhil sic nwim smwhu ]1] (161-2)
man saachai raatay har vayparvaahu. sachai mahal sach naam samaahu. ||1||
Those whose minds are attuned to the True, Carefree Lord enter the True Mansion of His Presence, and merge in the True Name. ||1||

suix mn myry sbdu vIcwir ] (161-3)
sun man mayray sabad veechaar.
Listen, O my mind: contemplate the Word of the Shabad.

rwm jphu Bvjlu auqrhu pwir ]1] rhwau ] (161-3)
raam japahu bhavjal utarahu paar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Chant the Lord's Name, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||

Brmy AwvY Brmy jwie ] (161-4)
bharmay aavai bharmay jaa-ay.
In doubt he comes, and in doubt he goes.

iehu jgu jnimAw dUjY Bwie ] (161-4)
ih jag janmi-aa doojai bhaa-ay.
This world is born out of the love of duality.

mnmuiK n cyqY AwvY jwie ]2] (161-4)
manmukh na chaytai aavai jaa-ay. ||2||
The self-willed manmukh does not remember the Lord; he continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||2||

Awip Bulw ik pRiB Awip BulwieAw ] (161-5)
aap bhulaa ke parabh aap bhulaa-i-aa.
Does he himself go astray, or does God lead him astray?

iehu jIau ivfwxI cwkrI lwieAw ] (161-5)
ih jee-o vidaanee chaakree laa-i-aa.
This soul is enjoined to the service of someone else.

mhw duKu Kty ibrQw jnmu gvwieAw ]3] (161-5)
mahaa dukh khatay birthaa janam gavaa-i-aa. ||3||
It earns only terrible pain, and this life is lost in vain. ||3||

ikrpw kir siqgurU imlwey ] (161-6)
kirpaa kar satguroo milaa-ay.
Granting His Grace, He leads us to meet the True Guru.

eyko nwmu cyqy ivchu Brmu cukwey ] (161-6)
ayko naam chaytay vichahu bharam chukaa-ay.
Remembering the One Name, doubt is cast out from within.

naanak naam japay naa-o na-o niDh paa-ay. ||4||11||31||
O Nanak, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the nine treasures of the Name are obtained. ||4||11||31||

Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

ijnw gurmuiK iDAwieAw iqn pUCau jwie ] (161-7)
jinaa gurmukh Dhi-aa-i-aa tin poochha-o jaa-ay.
Go and ask the Gurmukhs, who meditate on the Lord.

gur syvw qy mnu pqIAwie ] (161-8)
gur sayvaa tay man patee-aa-ay.
Serving the Guru, the mind is satisfied.

sy DnvMq hir nwmu kmwie ] (161-8)
say Dhanvant har naam kamaa-ay.
Those who earn the Lord's Name are wealthy.

pUry gur qy soJI pwie ]1] (161-9)
pooray gur tay sojhee paa-ay. ||1||
Through the Perfect Guru, understanding is obtained. ||1||

hir hir nwmu jphu myry BweI ] (161-9)
har har naam japahu mayray bhaa-ee.
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my Siblings of Destiny.

gurmuiK syvw hir Gwl Qwie pweI ]1] rhwau ] (161-9)
gurmukh sayvaa har ghaal thaa-ay paa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Gurmukhs serve the Lord, and so they are accepted. ||1||Pause||

Awpu pCwxY mnu inrmlu hoie ] (161-10)
aap pachhaanai man nirmal ho-ay.
Those who recognize the self - their minds become pure.

jIvn mukiq hir pwvY soie ] (161-10)
jeevan mukat har paavai so-ay.
They become Jivan-mukta, liberated while yet alive, and they find the Lord.

hir gux gwvY miq aUqm hoie ] (161-10)
har gun gaavai mat ootam ho-ay.
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the intellect becomes pure and sublime,

shjy shij smwvY soie ]2] (161-11)
sehjay sahj samaavai so-ay. ||2||
and they are easily and intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||2||

dUjY Bwie n syivAw jwie ] (161-11)
doojai bhaa-ay na sayvi-aa jaa-ay.
In the love of duality, no one can serve the Lord.

haumY mwieAw mhw ibKu Kwie ] (161-11)
ha-umai maa-i-aa mahaa bikh khaa-ay.
In egotism and Maya, they are eating toxic poison.

puiq kutMib igRih moihAw mwie ] (161-12)
put kutamb garihi mohi-aa maa-ay.
They are emotionally attached to their children, family and home.

mnmuiK AMDw AwvY jwie ]3] (161-12)
manmukh anDhaa aavai jaa-ay. ||3||
The blind, self-willed manmukhs come and go in reincarnation. ||3||

hir hir nwmu dyvY jnu soie ] Anidnu Bgiq gur sbdI hoie ] (161-12)
har har naam dayvai jan so-ay. an-din bhagat gur sabdee ho-ay.
Those, unto whom the Lord bestows His Name, worship Him night and day, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

gurmiq ivrlw bUJY koie ] (161-13)
gurmat virlaa boojhai ko-ay.
How rare are those who understand the Guru's Teachings!

naanak naam samaavai so-ay. ||4||12||32||
O Nanak, they are absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||12||32||

Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

gur syvw jug cwry hoeI ] (161-14)
gur sayvaa jug chaaray ho-ee.
The Guru's service has been performed throughout the four ages.

pUrw jnu kwr kmwvY koeI ] (161-14)
pooraa jan kaar kamaavai ko-ee.
Very few are those perfect ones who do this good deed.

AKutu nwm Dnu hir qoit n hoeI ] (161-14)
akhut naam Dhan har tot na ho-ee.
The wealth of the Lord's Name is inexhaustible; it shall never be exhausted.

AYQY sdw suKu dir soBw hoeI ]1] (161-15)
aithai sadaa sukh dar sobhaa ho-ee. ||1||
In this world, it brings a constant peace, and at the Lord's Gate, it brings honor. ||1||

ey mn myry Brmu n kIjY ] (161-15)
ay man mayray bharam na keejai.
O my mind, have no doubt about this.

gurmuiK syvw AMimRq rsu pIjY ]1] rhwau ] (161-15)
gurmukh sayvaa amrit ras peejai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Those Gurmukhs who serve, drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||

siqguru syvih sy mhwpurK sMswry ] (161-16)
satgur sayveh say mahaa purakh sansaaray.
Those who serve the True Guru are the greatest people of the world.

Awip auDry kul sgl insqwry ] (161-16)
aap uDhray kul sagal nistaaray.
They save themselves, and they redeem all their generations as well.

hir kw nwmu rKih aur Dwry ] (161-17)
har kaa naam rakheh ur Dhaaray.
They keep the Name of the Lord clasped tightly to their hearts.

nwim rqy Baujl auqrih pwry ]2] (161-17)
naam ratay bha-ojal utreh paaray. ||2||
Attuned to the Naam, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||

siqguru syvih sdw min dwsw ] (161-17)
satgur sayveh sadaa man daasaa.
Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes humble forever.

haumY mwir kmlu prgwsw ] (161-18)
ha-umai maar kamal pargaasaa.
Egotism is subdued, and the heart-lotus blossoms forth.

Anhdu vwjY inj Gir vwsw ] (161-18)
anhad vaajai nij ghar vaasaa.
The Unstruck Melody vibrates, as they dwell within the home of the self.

nwim rqy Gr mwih audwsw ]3] (161-18)
naam ratay ghar maahi udaasaa. ||3||
Attuned to the Naam, they remain detached within their own home. ||3||

siqguru syvih iqn kI scI bwxI ] (161-19)
satgur sayveh tin kee sachee banee.
Serving the True Guru, their words are true.

jugu jugu BgqI AwiK vKwxI ] (161-19)
jug jug bhagtee aakh vakhaanee.
Throughout the ages, the devotees chant and repeat these words.

Anidnu jpih hir swrMgpwxI ] (161-19)
an-din jaapeh har saarangpaanee.
Night and day, they meditate on the Lord, the Sustainer of the Earth.
