iqn qUM ivsrih ij dUjY Bwey ] (160-1)
tin tooN visrahi je doojai bhaa-ay.
Thse who are in love with duality forget You.

mnmuK AigAwnI jonI pwey ]2] (160-1)
manmukh agi-aanee jonee paa-ay. ||2||
The ignorant, self-willed manmukhs are consigned to reincarnation. ||2||

ijn iek min quTw sy siqgur syvw lwey ] ijn iek min quTw iqn hir mMin vswey ] (160-1)
jin ik man tuthaa say satgur sayvaa laa-ay. jin ik man tuthaa tin har man vasaa-ay.
Those who are pleasing to the One Lord are assigned to His service and enshrine Him within their minds.

gurmqI hir nwim smwey ]3] (160-2)
gurmatee har naam samaa-ay. ||3||
Through the Guru's Teachings, they are absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||3||

ijnw poqY puMnu sy igAwn bIcwrI ] (160-3)
jinaa potai punn say gi-aan beechaaree.
Those who have virtue as their treasure, contemplate spiritual wisdom.

ijnw poqY puMnu iqn haumY mwrI ] (160-3)
jinaa potai punn tin ha-umai maaree.
Those who have virtue as their treasure, subdue egotism.

nwnk jo nwim rqy iqn kau bilhwrI ]4]7]27] (160-3)
naanak jo naam ratay tin ka-o balihaaree. ||4||7||27||
Nanak is a sacrifice to those who are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||7||27||

ga-orhee gu-aarayree mehlaa 3.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

qUM AkQu ikau kiQAw jwih ] (160-4)
tooN akath ki-o kathi-aa jaahi.
You are Indescribable; how can I describe You?

gur sbdu mwrxu mn mwih smwih ] (160-5)
gur sabad maaran man maahi samaahi.
Those who subdue their minds, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, are absorbed in You.

qyry gux Anyk kImiq nh pwih ]1] (160-5)
tayray gun anayk keemat nah paahi. ||1||
Your Glorious Virtues are countless; their value cannot be estimated. ||1||

ijs kI bwxI iqsu mwih smwxI ] (160-5)
jis kee banee tis maahi samaanee.
The Word of His Bani belongs to Him; in Him, it is diffused.

qyrI AkQ kQw gur sbid vKwxI ]1] rhwau ] (160-6)
tayree akath kathaa gur sabad vakhaanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Your Speech cannot be spoken; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is chanted. ||1||Pause||

jah satgur tah satsangat banaa-ee.
Where the True Guru is - there is the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.

jh siqguru shjy hir gux gweI ] (160-7)
jah satgur sehjay har gun gaa-ee.
Where the True Guru is - there, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are intuitively sung.

jh siqguru qhw haumY sbid jlweI ]2] (160-7)
jah satgur tahaa ha-umai sabad jalaa-ee. ||2||
Where the True Guru is - there egotism is burnt away, through the Word of the Shabad. ||2||

gurmuiK syvw mhlI Qwau pwey ] (160-7)
gurmukh sayvaa mahlee thaa-o paa-ay.
The Gurmukhs serve Him; they obtain a place in the Mansion of His Presence.

gurmuiK AMqir hir nwmu vswey ] (160-8)
gurmukh antar har naam vasaa-ay.
The Gurmukhs enshrine the Naam within the mind.

gurmuiK Bgiq hir nwim smwey ]3] (160-8)
gurmukh bhagat har naam samaa-ay. ||3||
The Gurmukhs worship the Lord, and are absorbed in the Naam. ||3||

Awpy dwiq kry dwqwru ] (160-9)
aapay daat karay daataar.
The Giver Himself gives His Gifts,

pUry siqgur isau lgY ipAwru ] (160-9)
pooray satgur si-o lagai pi-aar.
as we enshrine love for the True Guru.

naanak naam ratay tin ka-o jaikaar. ||4||8||28||
Nanak celebrates those who are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||8||28||

ga-orhee gu-aarayree mehlaa 3.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

eyksu qy siB rUp hih rMgw ] (160-10)
aykas tay sabh roop heh rangaa.
All forms and colors come from the One Lord.

pauxu pwxI bYsMqru siB shlµgw ] (160-10)
pa-un paanee baisantar sabh sahlangaa.
Air, water and fire are all kept together.

iBMn iBMn vyKY hir pRBu rMgw ]1] (160-11)
bhinn bhinn vaykhai har parabh rangaa. ||1||
The Lord God beholds the many and various colors. ||1||

eyku Acrju eyko hY soeI ] (160-11)
ayk achraj ayko hai so-ee.
The One Lord is wondrous and amazing! He is the One, the One and Only.

gurmuiK vIcwry ivrlw koeI ]1] rhwau ] (160-11)
gurmukh veechaaray virlaa ko-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
How rare is that Gurmukh who meditates on the Lord. ||1||Pause||

shij BvY pRBu sBnI QweI ] (160-12)
sahj bhavai parabh sabhnee thaa-ee.
God is naturally pervading all places.

khw gupqu pRgtu pRiB bxq bxweI ] (160-12)
kahaa gupat pargat parabh banat banaa-ee.
Sometimes He is hidden, and sometimes He is revealed; thus God has made the world of His making.

Awpy suiqAw dyie jgweI ]2] (160-12)
aapay suti-aa day-ay jagaa-ee. ||2||
He Himself wakes us from sleep. ||2||

iqs kI kImiq iknY n hoeI ] (160-13)
tis kee keemat kinai na ho-ee.
No one can estimate His value,

kih kih kQnu khY sBu koeI ] (160-13)
kahi kahi kathan kahai sabh ko-ee.
although everyone has tried, over and over again, to describe Him.

gur sbid smwvY bUJY hir soeI ]3] (160-13)
gur sabad samaavai boojhai har so-ee. ||3||
Those who merge in the Word of the Guru's Shabad, come to understand the Lord. ||3||

suix suix vyKY sbid imlwey ] (160-14)
sun sun vaykhai sabad milaa-ay.
They listen to the Shabad continually; beholding Him, they merge into Him.

vfI vifAweI gur syvw qy pwey ] (160-14)
vadee vadi-aa-ee gur sayvaa tay paa-ay.
They obtain glorious greatness by serving the Guru.

naanak naam ratay har naam samaa-ay. ||4||9||29||
O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Name are absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||4||9||29||

ga-orhee gu-aarayree mehlaa 3.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

mnmuiK sUqw mwieAw moih ipAwir ] (160-15)
manmukh sootaa maa-i-aa mohi pi-aar.
The self-willed manmukhs are asleep, in love and attachment to Maya.

gurmuiK jwgy gux igAwn bIcwir ] (160-16)
gurmukh jaagay gun gi-aan beechaar.
The Gurmukhs are awake, contemplating spiritual wisdom and the Glory of God.

sy jn jwgy ijn nwm ipAwir ]1] (160-16)
say jan jaagay jin naam pi-aar. ||1||
Those humble beings who love the Naam, are awake and aware. ||1||

shjy jwgY svY n koie ] (160-17)
sehjay jaagai savai na ko-ay.
One who is awake to this intuitive wisdom does not fall asleep.

pUry gur qy bUJY jnu koie ]1] rhwau ] (160-17)
pooray gur tay boojhai jan ko-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
How rare are those humble beings who understand this through the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||

AsMqu AnwVI kdy n bUJY ] (160-17)
asant anaarhee kaday na boojhai.
The unsaintly blockhead shall never understand.

kQnI kry qY mwieAw nwil lUJY ] (160-18)
kathnee karay tai maa-i-aa naal loojhai.
He babbles on and on, but he is infatuated with Maya.

AMDu AigAwnI kdy n sIJY ]2] (160-18)
anDh agi-aanee kaday na seejhai. ||2||
Blind and ignorant, he shall never be reformed. ||2||

iesu jug mih rwm nwim insqwrw ] (160-18)
is jug meh raam naam nistaaraa.
In this age, salvation comes only from the Lord's Name.

ivrlw ko pwey gur sbid vIcwrw ] (160-19)
virlaa ko paa-ay gur sabad veechaaraa.
How rare are those who contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

Awip qrY sgly kul auDwrw ]3] (160-19)
aap tarai saglay kul uDhaaraa. ||3||
They save themselves, and save all their family and ancestors as well. ||3||
