127 ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਇਹੁ ਗੁਫਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ Gur kæ sabaḋ ih gufaa veechaaré. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, search this cave. ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥ Naam niranjan anṫar vasæ muraaré. The Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the self. ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ Har guṇ gaavæ sabaḋ suhaa▫é mil pareeṫam sukʰ paavṇi▫aa. ||4|| Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and decorate yourself with the Shabad. Meeting with your Beloved, you shall find peace. ||4|| ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਕਰੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ Jam jaagaaṫee ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é kar laa▫é. The Messenger of Death imposes his tax on those who are attached to duality. ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੂਲੇ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਏ ॥ Naavhu bʰoolé ḋé▫é sajaa▫é. He inflicts punishment on those who forget the Name. ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਲੇਵੈ ਰਤੀਅਹੁ ਮਾਸਾ ਤੋਲ ਕਢਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ Gʰaṛee muhaṫ kaa lékʰaa lévæ raṫee▫ahu maasaa ṫol kadʰaavaṇi▫aa. ||5|| They are called to account for each instant and each moment. Every grain, every particle, is weighed and counted. ||5|| ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ Pé▫ee▫aṛæ pir chéṫé naahee. One who does not remember her Husband Lord in this world, ਦੂਜੈ ਮੁਠੀ ਰੋਵੈ ਧਾਹੀ ॥ Ḋoojæ mutʰee rovæ ḋʰaahee. is being cheated by duality; she shall weep bitterly in the end. ਖਰੀ ਕੁਆਲਿਓ ਕੁਰੂਪਿ ਕੁਲਖਣੀ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ Kʰaree ku▫aali▫o kuroop kulkʰaṇee supnæ pir nahee paavṇi▫aa. ||6|| She is from an evil family; she is ugly and vile. Even in her dreams, she does not meet her Husband Lord. ||6|| ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥ Pé▫ee▫aṛæ pir man vasaa▫i▫aa. She who enshrines her Husband Lord in her mind in this world - ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ Pooræ gur haḋoor ḋikʰaa▫i▫aa. His Presence is revealed to her by the Perfect Guru. ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਸਬਦੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ Kaamaṇ pir raakʰi▫aa kantʰ laa▫é sabḋé pir raavæ séj suhaavaṇi▫aa. ||7|| That soul-bride keeps her Husband Lord clasped tightly to her heart, and through the Word of the Shabad, she enjoys her Husband Lord upon His Beautiful Bed. ||7|| ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਸਦਿ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥ Aapé ḋévæ saḋ bulaa▫é. The Lord Himself sends out the call, and He summons us to His Presence. ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਉ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ Aapṇaa naa▫o man vasaa▫é. He enshrines His Name within our minds. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੮॥੨੯॥ Naanak naam milæ vadi▫aa▫ee an▫ḋin saḋaa guṇ gaavaṇi▫aa. ||8||28||29|| O Nanak! One who receives the greatness of the Naam night and day, constantly sings His Glorious Praises. ||8||28||29|| ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ Maajʰ mėhlaa 3. Maajh, Third Mehl: ਊਤਮ ਜਨਮੁ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਹੈ ਵਾਸਾ ॥ Ooṫam janam suṫʰaan hæ vaasaa. Sublime is their birth, and the place where they dwell. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਘਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥ Saṫgur sévėh gʰar maahi uḋaasaa. Those who serve the True Guru remain detached in the home of their own being. ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ Har rang rahėh saḋaa rang raaṫé har ras man ṫaripṫaavṇi▫aa. ||1|| They abide in the Lord’s Love, and constantly imbued with His Love, their minds are satisfied and fulfilled with the Lord’s Essence. ||1|| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਪੜਿ ਬੁਝਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥ Ha▫o vaaree jee▫o vaaree paṛ bujʰ man vasaavaṇi▫aa. I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who read of the Lord, who understand and enshrine Him within their minds. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੜਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਹਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Gurmukʰ paṛėh har naam salaahėh ḋar sachæ sobʰaa paavṇi▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o. The Gurmukhs read and praise the Lord’s Name; they are honored in the True Court. ||1||Pause|| ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ Alakʰ abʰé▫o har rahi▫aa samaa▫é. The Unseen and Inscrutable Lord is permeating and pervading everywhere. ਉਪਾਇ ਨ ਕਿਤੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਏ ॥ Upaa▫é na kiṫee paa▫i▫aa jaa▫é. He cannot be obtained by any effort. ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ Kirpaa karé ṫaa saṫgur bʰétæ naḋree mél milaavaṇi▫aa. ||2|| If the Lord grants His Grace, then we come to meet the True Guru. By His Kindness, we are united in His Union. ||2|| ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪੜੈ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ॥ Ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é paṛæ nahee boojʰæ. One who reads, while attached to duality, does not understand. ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਲੂਝੈ ॥ Ṫaribaḋʰ maa▫i▫aa kaaraṇ loojʰæ. He yearns for the three-phased Maya. ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੂਟਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ Ṫaribaḋʰ banḋʰan ṫootėh gur sabḋee gur sabḋee mukaṫ karaavaṇi▫aa. ||3|| The bonds of the three-phased Maya are broken by the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. Through the Guru’s Shabad, liberation is achieved. ||3|| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਚੰਚਲੁ ਵਸਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ Ih man chanchal vas na aavæ. This unstable mind cannot be held steady. ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ Ḋubiḋʰaa laagæ ḋah ḋis ḋʰaavæ. Attached to duality, it wanders in the ten directions. ਬਿਖੁ ਕਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ Bikʰ kaa keeṛaa bikʰ mėh raaṫaa bikʰ hee maahi pachaavaṇi▫aa. ||4|| It is a poisonous worm, drenched with poison, and in poison it rots away. ||4|| ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰੇ ਤੈ ਆਪੁ ਜਣਾਏ ॥ Ha▫o ha▫o karé ṫæ aap jaṇaa▫é. Practicing egotism and selfishness, they try to impress others by showing off. ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥ Baho karam karæ kichʰ ṫʰaa▫é na paa▫é. They perform all sorts of rituals, but they gain no acceptance. ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਖਸੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ Ṫujʰ ṫé baahar kichʰoo na hovæ bakʰsé sabaḋ suhaavaṇi▫aa. ||5|| Without You, Lord, nothing happens at all. You forgive those who are adorned with the Word of Your Shabad. ||5|| ਉਪਜੈ ਪਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ Upjæ pachæ har boojʰæ naahee. They are born, and they die, but they do not understand the Lord. ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਫਿਰਾਹੀ ॥ An▫ḋin ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é firaa▫ee. Night and day, they wander, in love with duality. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਹੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ Manmukʰ janam ga▫i▫aa hæ birṫʰaa anṫ ga▫i▫aa pachʰuṫaavaṇi▫aa. ||6|| The lives of the self-willed Manmukhs are useless; in the end, they die, regretting and repenting. ||6|| ਪਿਰੁ ਪਰਦੇਸਿ ਸਿਗਾਰੁ ਬਣਾਏ ॥ Pir parḋés sigaar baṇaa▫é. The Husband is away, and the wife is getting dressed up. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੁ ਐਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥ Manmukʰ anḋʰ æsé karam kamaa▫é. This is what the blind, self-willed Manmukhs are doing. ਹਲਤਿ ਨ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਲਤਿ ਨ ਢੋਈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ Halaṫ na sobʰaa palaṫ na dʰo▫ee birṫʰaa janam gavaavṇi▫aa. ||7|| They are not honored in this world, and they shall find no shelter in the world hereafter. They are wasting their lives in vain. ||7|| ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ Har kaa naam kinæ virlæ jaaṫaa. How rare are those who know the Name of the Lord! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ Pooré gur kæ sabaḋ pachʰaaṫaa. Through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru, the Lord is realized. ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥ An▫ḋin bʰagaṫ karé ḋin raaṫee sėhjé hee sukʰ paavṇi▫aa. ||8|| Night and day, they perform the Lord’s devotional service; day and night, they find intuitive peace. ||8|| ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥ Sabʰ mėh varṫæ éko so▫ee. That One Lord is pervading in all. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥ Gurmukʰ virlaa boojʰæ ko▫ee. Only a few, being Gurmukh, understand this. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੯॥੨੯॥੩੦॥ Naanak naam raṫé jan sohėh kar kirpaa aap milaavaṇi▫aa. ||9||29||30|| O Nanak! Those who are attuned to the Naam are beautiful. Granting His Grace, God unites them with Himself. ||9||29||30|| |
