iqn kI syvw Drm rwie krY DMnu svwrxhwru ]2] (39-1)
tin kee sayvaa Dharam raa-ay karai Dhan savaaranhaar. ||2||
The Righteous Judge of Dharma serves them; blessed is the Lord who adorns them. ||2||

mn ky ibkwr mnih qjY min cUkY mohu AiBmwnu ] (39-1)
man kay bikaar maneh tajai man chookai moh abhimaan.
One who eliminates mental wickedness from within the mind, and casts out emotional attachment and egotistical pride,

Awqm rwmu pCwixAw shjy nwim smwnu ] (39-2)
aatam raam pachhaani-aa sehjay naam samaan.
comes to recognize the All-pervading Soul, and is intuitively absorbed into the Naam.

ibnu siqgur mukiq n pweIAY mnmuiK iPrY idvwnu ] (39-2)
bin satgur mukat na paa-ee-ai manmukh firai divaan.
Without the True Guru, the self-willed manmukhs do not find liberation; they wander around like lunatics.

sbdu n cInY kQnI bdnI kry ibiKAw mwih smwnu ]3] (39-3)
sabad na cheenai kathnee badnee karay bikhi-aa maahi samaan. ||3||
They do not contemplate the Shabad; engrossed in corruption, they utter only empty words. ||3||

sBu ikCu Awpy Awip hY dUjw Avru n koie ] (39-4)
sabh kichh aapay aap hai doojaa avar na ko-ay.
He Himself is everything; there is no other at all.

ijau bolwey iqau bolIAY jw Awip bulwey soie ] (39-4)
ji-o bolaa-ay ti-o bolee-ai jaa aap bulaa-ay so-ay.
I speak just as He makes me speak, when He Himself makes me speak.

gurmuiK bwxI bRhmu hY sbid imlwvw hoie ] (39-5)
gurmukh banee barahm hai sabad milaavaa ho-ay.
The Word of the Gurmukh is God Himself. Through the Shabad, we merge in Him.

nwnk nwmu smwil qU ijqu syivAY suKu hoie ]4]30]63] (39-5)
naanak naam samaal too jit sayvi-ai sukh ho-ay. ||4||30||63||
O Nanak, remember the Naam; serving Him, peace is obtained. ||4||30||63||

sireeraag mehlaa 3.
Siree Raag, Third Mehl:

jig haumY mYlu duKu pwieAw mlu lwgI dUjY Bwie ] (39-6)
jag ha-umai mail dukh paa-i-aa mal laagee doojai bhaa-ay.
The world is polluted with the filth of egotism, suffering in pain. This filth sticks to them because of their love of duality.

mlu haumY DoqI ikvY n auqrY jy sau qIrQ nwie ] (39-6)
mal ha-umai Dhotee kivai na utrai jay sa-o tirath naa-ay.
This filth of egotism cannot be washed away, even by taking cleansing baths at hundreds of sacred shrines.

bhu ibiD krm kmwvdy dUxI mlu lwgI Awie ] (39-7)
baho biDh karam kamaavday doonee mal laagee aa-ay.
Performing all sorts of rituals, people are smeared with twice as much filth.

piVAY mYlu n auqrY pUChu igAwnIAw jwie ]1] (39-7)
parhi-ai mail na utrai poochhahu gi-aanee-aa jaa-ay. ||1||
This filth is not removed by studying. Go ahead, and ask the wise ones. ||1||

mn myry gur srix AwvY qw inrmlu hoie ] (39-8)
man mayray gur saran aavai taa nirmal ho-ay.
O my mind, coming to the Sanctuary of the Guru, you shall become immaculate and pure.

mnmuK hir hir kir Qky mYlu n skI Doie ]1] rhwau ] (39-8)
manmukh har har kar thakay mail na sakee Dho-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The self-willed manmukhs have grown weary of chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, but their filth cannot be removed. ||1||Pause||

min mYlY Bgiq n hoveI nwmu n pwieAw jwie ] (39-9)
man mailai bhagat na hova-ee naam na paa-i-aa jaa-ay.
With a polluted mind, devotional service cannot be performed, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, cannot be obtained.

mnmuK mYly mYly muey jwsin piq gvwie ] (39-9)
manmukh mailay mailay mu-ay jaasan pat gavaa-ay.
The filthy, self-willed manmukhs die in filth, and they depart in disgrace.

gur prswdI min vsY mlu haumY jwie smwie ] (39-10)
gur parsaadee man vasai mal ha-umai jaa-ay samaa-ay.
By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to abide in the mind, and the filth of egotism is dispelled.

ijau AMDyrY dIpku bwlIAY iqau gur igAwin AigAwnu qjwie ]2] (39-10)
ji-o anDhayrai deepak baalee-ai ti-o gur gi-aan agi-aan tajaa-ay. ||2||
Like a lamp lit in the darkness, the spiritual wisdom of the Guru dispels ignorance. ||2||

hm kIAw hm krhgy hm mUrK gwvwr ] (39-11)
ham kee-aa ham karhagay ham moorakh gaavaar.
"I have done this, and I will do that"-I am an idiotic fool for saying this!

krxY vwlw ivsirAw dUjY Bwie ipAwru ] (39-12)
karnai vaalaa visri-aa doojai bhaa-ay pi-aar.
I have forgotten the Doer of all; I am caught in the love of duality.

mwieAw jyvfu duKu nhI siB Biv Qky sMswru ] (39-12)
maa-i-aa jayvad dukh nahee sabh bhav thakay sansaar.
There is no pain as great as the pain of Maya; it drives people to wander all around the world, until they become exhausted.

gurmqI suKu pweIAY scu nwmu aur Dwir ]3] (39-12)
gurmatee sukh paa-ee-ai sach naam ur Dhaar. ||3||
Through the Guru's Teachings, peace is found, with the True Name enshrined in the heart. ||3||

ijs no myly so imlY hau iqsu bilhwrY jwau ] (39-13)
jis no maylay so milai ha-o tis balihaarai jaa-o.
I am a sacrifice to those who meet and merge with the Lord.

ey mn BgqI riqAw scu bwxI inj Qwau ] (39-13)
ay man bhagtee rati-aa sach banee nij thaa-o.
This mind is attuned to devotional worship; through the True Word of Gurbani, it finds its own home.

min rqy ijhvw rqI hir gux scy gwau ] (39-14)
man ratay jihvaa ratee har gun sachay gaa-o.
With the mind so imbued, and the tongue imbued as well, sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord.

naanak naam na veesrai sachay maahi samaa-o. ||4||31||64||
O Nanak, never forget the Naam; immerse yourself in the True One. ||4||31||64||

Siree Raag, Fourth Mehl, First House:

mY min qin ibrhu Aiq Aglw ikau pRIqmu imlY Gir Awie ] (39-15)
mai man tan birahu at aglaa ki-o pareetam milai ghar aa-ay.
Within my mind and body is the intense pain of separation; how can my Beloved come to meet me in my home?

jw dyKw pRBu Awpxw pRiB dyiKAY duKu jwie ] (39-16)
jaa daykhaa parabh aapnaa parabh daykhi-ai dukh jaa-ay.
When I see my God, seeing God Himself, my pain is taken away.

jwie puCw iqn sjxw pRBu ikqu ibiD imlY imlwie ]1] (39-16)
jaa-ay puchhaa tin sajnaa parabh kit biDh milai milaa-ay. ||1||
I go and ask my friends, "How can I meet and merge with God?"||1||

myry siqgurw mY quJ ibnu Avru n koie ] (39-17)
mayray satiguraa mai tujh bin avar na ko-ay.
O my True Guru, without You I have no other at all.

hm mUrK mugD srxwgqI kir ikrpw myly hir soie ]1] rhwau ] (39-17)
ham moorakh mugaDh sarnaagatee kar kirpaa maylay har so-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I am foolish and ignorant; I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be Merciful and unite me with the Lord. ||1||Pause||

siqguru dwqw hir nwm kw pRBu Awip imlwvY soie ] (39-18)
satgur daataa har naam kaa parabh aap milaavai so-ay.
The True Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him.

siqguir hir pRBu buiJAw gur jyvfu Avru n koie ] (39-18)
satgur har parabh bujhi-aa gur jayvad avar na ko-ay.
The True Guru understands the Lord God. There is no other as Great as the Guru.

hau gur srxweI Fih pvw kir dieAw myly pRBu soie ]2] (39-19)
ha-o gur sarnaa-ee dheh pavaa kar da-i-aa maylay parabh so-ay. ||2||
I have come and collapsed in the Guru's Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God. ||2||

mnhiT iknY n pwieAw kir aupwv Qky sBu koie ] (39-19)
manhath kinai na paa-i-aa kar upaav thakay sabh ko-ay.
No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort.
