mnmuK jnmu ibrQw gieAw ikAw muhu dysI jwie ]3] (35-1)
manmukh janam birthaa ga-i-aa ki-aa muhu daysee jaa-ay. ||3||
The life of the self-willed manmukh passes uselessly. What face will he show when he passes beyond? ||3||

sB ikCu Awpy Awip hY haumY ivic khnu n jwie ] (35-1)
sabh kichh aapay aap hai ha-umai vich kahan na jaa-ay.
God Himself is everything; those who are in their ego cannot even speak of this.

gur kY sbid pCwxIAY duKu haumY ivchu gvwie ] (35-2)
gur kai sabad pachhaanee-ai dukh ha-umai vichahu gavaa-ay.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is realized, and the pain of egotism is eradicated from within.

sqguru syvin Awpxw hau iqn kY lwgau pwie ] (35-2)
satgur sayvan aapnaa ha-o tin kai laaga-o paa-ay.
I fall at the feet of those who serve their True Guru.

nwnk dir scY sicAwr hih hau iqn bilhwrY jwau ]4]21]54] (35-3)
naanak dar sachai sachiaar heh ha-o tin balihaarai jaa-o. ||4||21||54||
O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who are found to be true in the True Court. ||4||21||54||

jay vaylaa vakhat veechaaree-ai taa kit vaylaa bhagat ho-ay.
Consider the time and the moment-when should we worship the Lord?

Anidnu nwmy riqAw scy scI soie ] (35-4)
an-din naamay rati-aa sachay sachee so-ay.
Night and day, one who is attuned to the Name of the True Lord is true.

ieku iqlu ipAwrw ivsrY Bgiq iknyhI hoie ] (35-5)
ik til pi-aaraa visrai bhagat kinayhee ho-ay.
If someone forgets the Beloved Lord, even for an instant, what sort of devotion is that?

mnu qnu sIqlu swc isau swsu n ibrQw koie ]1] (35-5)
man tan seetal saach si-o saas na birthaa ko-ay. ||1||
One whose mind and body are cooled and soothed by the True Lord-no breath of his is wasted. ||1||

myry mn hir kw nwmu iDAwie ] (35-6)
mayray man har kaa naam Dhi-aa-ay.
O my mind, meditate on the Name of the Lord.

saachee bhagat taa thee-ai jaa har vasai man aa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
True devotional worship is performed when the Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||1||Pause||

shjy KyqI rwhIAY scu nwmu bIju pwie ] (35-7)
sehjay khaytee raahee-ai sach naam beej paa-ay.
With intuitive ease, cultivate your farm, and plant the Seed of the True Name.

KyqI jMmI AglI mnUAw rjw shij suBwie ] (35-7)
khaytee jammee aglee manoo-aa rajaa sahj subhaa-ay.
The seedlings have sprouted luxuriantly, and with intuitive ease, the mind is satisfied.

gur kw sbdu AMimRqu hY ijqu pIqY iqK jwie ] (35-8)
gur kaa sabad amrit hai jit peetai tikh jaa-ay.
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is Ambrosial Nectar; drinking it in, thirst is quenched.

iehu mnu swcw sic rqw scy rihAw smwie ]2] (35-8)
ih man saachaa sach rataa sachay rahi-aa samaa-ay. ||2||
This true mind is attuned to Truth, and it remains permeated with the True One. ||2||

AwKxu vyKxu bolxw sbdy rihAw smwie ] (35-9)
aakhan vaykhan bolnaa sabday rahi-aa samaa-ay.
In speaking, in seeing and in words, remain immersed in the Shabad.

bwxI vjI chu jugI sco scu suxwie ] (35-9)
banee vajee chahu jugee sacho sach sunaa-ay.
The Word of the Guru's Bani vibrates throughout the four ages. As Truth, it teaches Truth.

haumY myrw rih gieAw scY lieAw imlwie ] (35-9)
ha-umai mayraa reh ga-i-aa sachai la-i-aa milaa-ay.
Egotism and possessiveness are eliminated, and the True One absorbs them into Himself.

iqn kau mhlu hdUir hY jo sic rhy ilv lwie ]3] (35-10)
tin ka-o mahal hadoor hai jo sach rahay liv laa-ay. ||3||
Those who remain lovingly absorbed in the True One see the Mansion of His Presence close at hand. ||3||

ndrI nwmu iDAweIAY ivxu krmw pwieAw n jwie ] (35-10)
nadree naam Dhi-aa-ee-ai vin karmaa paa-i-aa na jaa-ay.
By His Grace, we meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. Without His Mercy, it cannot be obtained.

pUrY Bwig sqsMgiq lhY sqguru BytY ijsu Awie ] (35-11)
poorai bhaag satsangat lahai satgur bhaytai jis aa-ay.
Through perfect good destiny, one finds the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, and one comes to meet the True Guru.

Anidnu nwmy riqAw duKu ibiKAw ivchu jwie ] (35-12)
an-din naamay rati-aa dukh bikhi-aa vichahu jaa-ay.
Night and day, remain attuned to the Naam, and the pain of corruption shall be dispelled from within.

nwnk sbid imlwvVw nwmy nwim smwie ]4]22]55] (35-12)
naanak sabad milaavrhaa naamay naam samaa-ay. ||4||22||55||
O Nanak, merging with the Shabad through the Name, one is immersed in the Name. ||4||22||55||

Awpxw Bau iqn pwieEnu ijn gur kw sbdu bIcwir ] (35-13)
aapnaa bha-o tin paa-i-on jin gur kaa sabad beechaar.
Those who contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad are filled with the Fear of God.

sqsMgqI sdw imil rhy scy ky gux swir ] (35-13)
satsangtee sadaa mil rahay sachay kay gun saar.
They remain forever merged with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation; they dwell upon the Glories of the True One.

duibDw mYlu cukweIAnu hir rwiKAw aur Dwir ] (35-14)
dubiDhaa mail chukaa-ee-an har raakhi-aa ur Dhaar.
They cast off the filth of their mental duality, and they keep the Lord enshrined in their hearts.

scI bwxI scu min scy nwil ipAwru ]1] (35-14)
sachee banee sach man sachay naal pi-aar. ||1||
True is their speech, and true are their minds. They are in love with the True One. ||1||

mn myry haumY mYlu Br nwil ] (35-15)
man mayray ha-umai mail bhar naal.
O my mind, you are filled with the filth of egotism.

hir inrmlu sdw sohxw sbid svwrxhwru ]1] rhwau ] (35-15)
har nirmal sadaa sohnaa sabad savaaranhaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Immaculate Lord is eternally Beautiful. We are adorned with the Word of the Shabad. ||1||Pause||

scY sbid mnu moihAw pRiB Awpy ley imlwie ] (35-16)
sachai sabad man mohi-aa parabh aapay la-ay milaa-ay.
God joins to Himself those whose minds are fascinated with the True Word of His Shabad.

Anidnu nwmy riqAw joqI joiq smwie ] (35-16)
an-din naamay rati-aa jotee jot samaa-ay.
Night and day, they are attuned to the Naam, and their light is absorbed into the Light.

joqI hU pRBu jwpdw ibnu sqgur bUJ n pwie ] (35-17)
jotee hoo parabh jaapdaa bin satgur boojh na paa-ay.
Through His Light, God is revealed. Without the True Guru, understanding is not obtained.

ijn kau pUrib iliKAw sqguru ByitAw iqn Awie ]2] (35-17)
jin ka-o poorab likhi-aa satgur bhayti-aa tin aa-ay. ||2||
The True Guru comes to meet those who have such pre-ordained destiny. ||2||

ivxu nwvY sB fumxI dUjY Bwie KuAwie ] (35-18)
vin naavai sabh dumnee doojai bhaa-ay khu-aa-ay.
Without the Name, all are miserable. In the love of duality, they are ruined.

iqsu ibnu GVI n jIvdI duKI rYix ivhwie ] (35-18)
tis bin gharhee na jeevdee dukhee rain vihaa-ay.
Without Him, I cannot survive even for an instant, and my life-night passes in anguish.

Brim Bulwxw AMDulw iPir iPir AwvY jwie ] (35-19)
bharam bhulaanaa anDhulaa fir fir aavai jaa-ay.
Wandering in doubt, the spiritually blind come and go in reincarnation, over and over again.

ndir kry pRBu AwpxI Awpy ley imlwie ]3] (35-19)
nadar karay parabh aapnee aapay la-ay milaa-ay. ||3||
When God Himself bestows His Glance of Grace, He blends us into Himself. ||3||
