1190 ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਹਿ ਆਪੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ Gur sabaḋ beechaarėh aap jaa▫é. Contemplate the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, and be rid of your ego. ਸਾਚ ਜੋਗੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਆਇ ॥੮॥ Saach jog man vasæ aa▫é. ||8|| True Yoga shall come to dwell in your mind. ||8|| ਜਿਨਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ Jin jee▫o pind ḋiṫaa ṫis cheeṫėh naahi. He blessed you with body and soul, but you do not even think of Him. ਮੜੀ ਮਸਾਣੀ ਮੂੜੇ ਜੋਗੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੯॥ Maṛee masaaṇee mooṛé jog naahi. ||9|| You fool! Visiting graves and cremation grounds is not Yoga. ||9|| ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਭਲੀ ਬਾਣਿ ॥ Guṇ Naanak bolæ bʰalee baaṇ. Nanak chants the sublime, glorious Bani of the Word. ਤੁਮ ਹੋਹੁ ਸੁਜਾਖੇ ਲੇਹੁ ਪਛਾਣਿ ॥੧੦॥੫॥ Ṫum hohu sujaakʰé lého pachʰaaṇ. ||10||5|| Understand it, and appreciate it. ||10||5|| ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ Basanṫ mėhlaa 1. Basant, First Mehl: ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਧੁਲੀ ਕਾਰ ॥ Ḋubiḋʰaa ḋurmaṫ aḋʰulee kaar. In duality and evil-mindedness, the mortal acts blindly. ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭਰਮੈ ਮਝਿ ਗੁਬਾਰ ॥੧॥ Manmukʰ bʰarmæ majʰ gubaar. ||1|| The self-willed Manmukh wanders, lost in the darkness. ||1|| ਮਨੁ ਅੰਧੁਲਾ ਅੰਧੁਲੀ ਮਤਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ Man anḋʰulaa anḋʰulee maṫ laagæ. The blind man follows blind advice. ਗੁਰ ਕਰਣੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਭਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Gur karṇee bin bʰaram na bʰaagæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o. Unless one takes the Guru’s Way, his doubt is not dispelled. ||1||Pause|| ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥ Manmukʰ anḋʰulé gurmaṫ na bʰaa▫ee. The Manmukh is (spiritually) blind; he does not like the Guru’s Teachings. ਪਸੂ ਭਏ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥ Pasoo bʰa▫é abʰimaan na jaa▫ee. ||2|| He has become a beast; he cannot get rid of his egotistical pride. ||2|| ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ Lakʰ cha▫oraaseeh janṫ upaa▫é. God created 8.4 million species of beings. ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਾਣੇ ਸਿਰਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੩॥ Méré tʰaakur bʰaaṇé siraj samaa▫é. ||3|| My Lord and Master, by the Pleasure of His Will, creates and destroys them. ||3|| ਸਗਲੀ ਭੂਲੈ ਨਹੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਚਾਰੁ ॥ Saglee bʰoolæ nahee sabaḋ achaar. All are deluded and confused, without the Word of the Shabad and good conduct. ਸੋ ਸਮਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੪॥ So samjʰæ jis gur karṫaar. ||4|| He alone is instructed in this, who is blessed by the Guru, the Creator. ||4|| ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਾਣੇ ॥ Gur ké chaakar tʰaakur bʰaaṇé. The Guru’s servants are pleasing to our Lord and Master. ਬਖਸਿ ਲੀਏ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮ ਕਾਣੇ ॥੫॥ Bakʰas lee▫é naahee jam kaaṇé. ||5|| The Lord forgives them, and they no longer fear the Messenger of Death. ||5|| ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕੋ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ Jin kæ hirḋæ éko bʰaa▫i▫aa. Those who love the One Lord with all their heart- ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੬॥ Aapé mélé bʰaram chukaa▫i▫aa. ||6|| He dispels their doubts and unites them with Himself. ||6|| ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ Bémuhṫaaj bé▫anṫ apaaraa. God is Independent, Endless and Infinite. ਸਚਿ ਪਤੀਜੈ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ॥੭॥ Sach paṫeejæ karnæhaaraa. ||7|| The Creator Lord is pleased with Truth. ||7|| ਨਾਨਕ ਭੂਲੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਮਝਾਵੈ ॥ Naanak bʰoolé gur samjʰaavæ. O Nanak! The Guru instructs the mistaken soul. ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਟਿਕਾਵੈ ॥੮॥੬॥ Ék ḋikʰaavæ saach tikaavæ. ||8||6|| He implants the Truth within him, and shows him the One Lord. ||8||6|| ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ Basanṫ mėhlaa 1. Basant, First Mehl: ਆਪੇ ਭਵਰਾ ਫੂਲ ਬੇਲਿ ॥ Aapé bʰavraa fool bél. He Himself is the bumble bee, the fruit and the vine. ਆਪੇ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੀਤ ਮੇਲਿ ॥੧॥ Aapé sangaṫ meeṫ mél. ||1|| He Himself unites us with the Sangat - the Congregation, and the Guru, our Best Friend. ||1|| ਐਸੀ ਭਵਰਾ ਬਾਸੁ ਲੇ ॥ Æsee bʰavraa baas lé. O bumble bee, suck in that fragrance, ਤਰਵਰ ਫੂਲੇ ਬਨ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Ṫarvar foolé ban haré. ||1|| rahaa▫o. which causes the trees to flower, and the woods to grow lush foliage. ||1||Pause|| ਆਪੇ ਕਵਲਾ ਕੰਤੁ ਆਪਿ ॥ Aapé kavlaa kanṫ aap. He Himself is Lakshmi, and He Himself is her husband. ਆਪੇ ਰਾਵੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਥਾਪਿ ॥੨॥ Aapé raavé sabaḋ ṫʰaap. ||2|| He established the world by Word of His Shabad, and He Himself ravishes it. ||2|| ਆਪੇ ਬਛਰੂ ਗਊ ਖੀਰੁ ॥ Aapé bachʰroo ga▫oo kʰeer. He Himself is the calf, the cow and the milk. ਆਪੇ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਥੰਮੑੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ॥੩॥ Aapé manḋar ṫʰamh sareer. ||3|| He Himself is the Support of the body-mansion. ||3|| ਆਪੇ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ Aapé karṇee karanhaar. He Himself is the Deed, and He Himself is the Doer. ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੪॥ Aapé gurmukʰ kar beechaar. ||4|| As Gurmukh, He contemplates Himself. ||4|| ਤੂ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ Ṫoo kar kar ḋékʰėh karanhaar. You create the creation, and gaze upon it, O Creator Lord. ਜੋਤਿ ਜੀਅ ਅਸੰਖ ਦੇਇ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੫॥ Joṫ jee▫a asaⁿkʰ ḋé▫é aḋʰaar. ||5|| You give Your Support to the uncounted beings and creatures. ||5|| ਤੂ ਸਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਹੀਰੁ ॥ Ṫoo sar saagar guṇ gaheer. You are the Profound, Unfathomable Ocean of Virtue. ਤੂ ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪਰਮ ਹੀਰੁ ॥੬॥ Ṫoo akul niranjan param heer. ||6|| You are the Unknowable, the Immaculate, the most Sublime Jewel. ||6|| ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਣ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ Ṫoo aapé karṫaa karaṇ jog. You Yourself are the Creator, with the Potency to create. ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ਰਾਜਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਲੋਗੁ ॥੭॥ Nihkéval raajan sukʰee log. ||7|| You are the Independent Ruler, whose people are at peace. ||7|| ਨਾਨਕ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਆਦਿ ॥ Naanak ḋʰaraapé har naam su▫aaḋ. Nanak is satisfied with the subtle taste of the Lord’s Name. ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਾਦਿ ॥੮॥੭॥ Bin har gur pareeṫam janam baaḋ. ||8||7|| Without the Beloved Lord and Master, life is meaningless. ||8||7|| ਬਸੰਤੁ ਹਿੰਡੋਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੨ Basanṫ hindol mėhlaa 1 gʰar 2 Basant Hindol, First Mehl, Second House: ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ Ik▫oaⁿkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ. One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਨਉ ਸਤ ਚਉਦਹ ਤੀਨਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਹਲਤਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਬਹਾਲੀ ॥ Na▫o saṫ cha▫oḋah ṫeen chaar kar mahlaṫ chaar bahaalee. The nine regions, the seven continents, the fourteen worlds, the three qualities and the four ages - You established them all through the four sources of creation, and You seated them in Your mansions. ਚਾਰੇ ਦੀਵੇ ਚਹੁ ਹਥਿ ਦੀਏ ਏਕਾ ਏਕਾ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ Chaaré ḋeevé chahu haṫʰ ḋee▫é ékaa ékaa vaaree. ||1|| He placed the four lamps, one by one, into the hands of the four ages. ||1|| ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨ ਮਾਧੌ ਐਸੀ ਸਕਤਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Miharvaan maḋʰusooḋan maaḋʰou æsee sakaṫ ṫumĥaaree. ||1|| rahaa▫o. O Merciful Lord, Destroyer of demons, Lord of Lakshmi, such is Your Power - Your Shakti. ||1||Pause|| ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਲਸਕਰੁ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਿਕਦਾਰੀ ॥ Gʰar gʰar laskar paavak ṫéraa ḋʰaram karé sikḋaaree. Your army is the fire in the home of each and every heart. And Dharma - righteous living is the ruling chieftain. ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇਗ ਮਿਲੈ ਇਕ ਵੇਰਾ ਭਾਗੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭੰਡਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ Ḋʰarṫee ḋég milæ ik véraa bʰaag ṫéraa bʰandaaree. ||2|| The earth is Your great cooking pot; Your beings receive their portions only once. Destiny is Your gate-keeper. ||2|| ਨਾ ਸਾਬੂਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੰਗੈ ਨਾਰਦੁ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰੀ ॥ Naa saaboor hovæ fir mangæ naaraḋ karé kʰu▫aaree. But the mortal becomes unsatisfied, and begs for more; his fickle mind brings him disgrace. |
