ਸਾਝੀ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਲਿ ਬਹਾਲਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਕ ॥

Saajʱee gur naal bahaali▫aa sarab sukʱ paa▫ik.

He has made me a partner with the Guru; I have obtained all peace and comforts.

ਮੈ ਨਾਲਹੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਲਾਇਕ ॥੨੧॥

Mæ naalahu kaḋé na vichʱuṛæ har piṫaa sabʱnaa galaa laa▫ik. ||21||

He is with me, and shall never separate from me; the Lord, my father, is potent to do everything. ||21||

Shalok, Dakhanay, Fifth Mehl:

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਚੜਿਆ ਸਿਉ ਤੋੜਿ ਢੂਢਿ ਸਜਣ ਸੰਤ ਪਕਿਆ ॥

Naanak kachṛi▫aa si▫o ṫoṛ dʱoodʱ sajaṇ sanṫ paki▫aa.

O Nanak! Break away from the false, and seek out the Saints, your true friends.

ਓਇ ਜੀਵੰਦੇ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਓਇ ਮੁਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ਛੋੜਿ ॥੧॥

O▫é jeevandé vichʱuṛėh o▫é mu▫i▫aa na jaahee chʱoṛ. ||1||

The false shall leave you, even while you are still alive; but the Saints shall not forsake you, even when you are dead. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਜੁਲੀਆ ਚਮਕੰਨਿ ਘੁਰਨੑਿ ਘਟਾ ਅਤਿ ਕਾਲੀਆ ॥

Naanak bijulee▫aa chamkann gʱurniĥ gʱataa aṫ kaalee▫aa.

O Nanak! The lightning flashes, and thunder echoes in the dark black clouds.

ਬਰਸਨਿ ਮੇਘ ਅਪਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਗਮਿ ਪਿਰੀ ਸੁਹੰਦੀਆ ॥੨॥

Barsan mégʱ apaar Naanak sangam piree suhanḋee▫aa. ||2||

The downpour from the clouds is heavy; O Nanak! The soul-brides are exalted and embellished with their Beloved. ||2||

Fifth Mehl:

ਜਲ ਥਲ ਨੀਰਿ ਭਰੇ ਸੀਤਲ ਪਵਣ ਝੁਲਾਰਦੇ ॥

Jal ṫʱal neer bʱaré seeṫal pavaṇ jʱulaarḋé.

The ponds and the lands are overflowing with water, and the cold wind is blowing.

ਸੇਜੜੀਆ ਸੋਇੰਨ ਹੀਰੇ ਲਾਲ ਜੜੰਦੀਆ ॥

Séjṛee▫aa so▫inn heeré laal jaṛanḋee▫aa.

Her bed is adorned with gold, diamonds and rubies;

ਸੁਭਰ ਕਪੜ ਭੋਗ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰੀ ਵਿਹੂਣੀ ਤਤੀਆ ॥੩॥

Subʱar kapaṛ bʱog Naanak piree vihooṇee ṫaṫee▫aa. ||3||

she is blessed with beautiful gowns and delicacies, O Nanak! But without her Beloved, she burns in agony. ||3||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pa▫oṛee.

Pauree:

ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਜੋ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਹੈ ਕਰਣਾ ॥

Kaaraṇ karṫæ jo kee▫aa so▫ee hæ karṇaa.

He does the deeds which the Creator causes him to do.

ਜੇ ਸਉ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਹਣਾ ॥

Jé sa▫o ḋʱaavėh paraaṇee▫aa paavahi ḋʱur lahṇaa.

Even if you run in hundreds of directions, O mortal, you shall still receive what you are predestined to receive.

ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਲਭਈ ਜੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਸਭ ਧਰਣਾ ॥

Bin karmaa kichʱoo na labʱ▫ee jé firėh sabʱ ḋʱarṇaa.

Without good karma, you shall obtain nothing, even if you wander across the whole world.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਉ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਭੈ ਡਰੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਣਾ ॥

Gur mil bʱa▫o govinḋ kaa bʱæ dar ḋoor karṇaa.

Meeting with the Guru, you shall know the Fear of God, and other fears shall be taken away.

ਭੈ ਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਖੋਜਤ ਫਿਰਣਾ ॥

Bʱæ ṫé bæraag oopjæ har kʱojaṫ firṇaa.

Through the Fear of God, the attitude of detachment wells up, and one sets out in search of the Lord.

ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਸਹਜੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਮਰਣਾ ॥

Kʱojaṫ kʱojaṫ sahj upji▫aa fir janam na marṇaa.

Searching and searching, intuitive wisdom wells up, and then, one is not born to die again.

ਹਿਆਇ ਕਮਾਇ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਾ ॥

Hi▫aa▫é kamaa▫é ḋʱi▫aa▫i▫aa paa▫i▫aa saaḋʱ sarṇaa.

Practicing meditation within my heart, I have found the Sanctuary of the Holy.

ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਚੜਾਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਣਾ ॥੨੨॥

Bohiṫʱ Naanak ḋé▫o gur jis har chaṛaa▫é ṫis bʱa▫ojal ṫarṇaa. ||22||

Whoever the Lord places on the boat of Guru Nanak, is carried across the terrifying world-ocean. ||22||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥

Shalok, Dakhanay Fifth Mehl:

ਪਹਿਲਾ ਮਰਣੁ ਕਬੂਲਿ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਛਡਿ ਆਸ ॥

Pahilaa maraṇ kabool jeevaṇ kee chʱad aas.

First, accept death, and give up any hope of life.

ਹੋਹੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁਕਾ ਤਉ ਆਉ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੧॥

Hohu sabʱnaa kee réṇukaa ṫa▫o aa▫o hamaaræ paas. ||1||

Become the dust of the feet of all, and then, you may come to me. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:

ਮੁਆ ਜੀਵੰਦਾ ਪੇਖੁ ਜੀਵੰਦੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਨਿ ॥

Mu▫aa jeevanḋaa pékʱ jeevandé mar jaan.

See, that only one who has died, truly lives; one who is alive, consider him dead.

ਜਿਨੑਾ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਇਕ ਸਿਉ ਤੇ ਮਾਣਸ ਪਰਧਾਨ ॥੨॥

Jinĥaa muhabaṫ ik si▫o ṫé maaṇas parḋʱaan. ||2||

Those who are in love with the One Lord, are the supreme people. ||2||

Fifth Mehl:

ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਪੀਰ ॥

Jis man vasæ paarbarahm nikat na aavæ peer.

Pain does not even approach that person, within whose mind God abides.

ਭੁਖ ਤਿਖ ਤਿਸੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪਈ ਜਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ਨੀਰ ॥੩॥

Bʱukʱ ṫikʱ ṫis na vi▫aapa▫ee jam nahee aavæ neer. ||3||

Hunger and thirst do not affect him, and the Messenger of Death does not approach him. ||3||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pa▫oṛee.

Pauree:

ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹ ਅਡੋਲੈ ॥

Keemaṫ kahaṇ na jaa▫ee▫æ sach saah adolæ.

Your worth cannot be estimated, O True, Unmoving Lord God.

ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀਆ ਕਉਣੁ ਤੁਧੁਨੋ ਤੋਲੈ ॥

Siḋʱ saaḋʱik gi▫aanee ḋʱi▫aanee▫aa ka▫uṇ ṫuḋʱuno ṫolæ.

The Siddhas, seekers, spiritual teachers and meditators - who among them can measure You?

ਭੰਨਣ ਘੜਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਹੈ ਓਪਤਿ ਸਭ ਪਰਲੈ ॥

Bʱannaṇ gʱaṛaṇ samraṫʱ hæ opaṫ sabʱ parlæ.

You are all-powerful, to form and break; You create and destroy all.

ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਹੈ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਭ ਬੋਲੈ ॥

Karaṇ kaaraṇ samraṫʱ hæ gʱat gʱat sabʱ bolæ.

You are all-powerful to act, and inspire all to act; You speak through each and every heart.

ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹੇ ਸਭਸੈ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਣਸੁ ਡੋਲੈ ॥

Rijak samaahé sabʱsæ ki▫aa maaṇas dolæ.

You give sustenance to all; why should mankind waver?

ਗਹਿਰ ਗਭੀਰੁ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਤੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਮੋਲੈ ॥

Gahir gabʱeer aṫʱaahu ṫoo guṇ gi▫aan amolæ.

You are deep, profound and unfathomable; Your virtuous spiritual wisdom is priceless.

ਸੋਈ ਕੰਮੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੀਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਉਲੈ ॥

So▫ee kamm kamaavaṇaa kee▫aa ḋʱur ma▫ulæ.

They do the deeds which they are preordained to do.

ਤੁਧਹੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲੈ ॥੨੩॥੧॥੨॥

Ṫuḋʱhu baahar kichʱ nahee Naanak guṇ bolæ. ||23||1||2||

Without You, there is nothing at all; Nanak chants Your Glorious Praises. ||23||1||2||

ਰਾਗੁ ਮਾਰੂ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ

Raag maaroo baṇee Kabeer jee▫o kee

Raag Maaroo, The Word Of Kabir Jee:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Ik▫oaᴺkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ.

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਪਡੀਆ ਕਵਨ ਕੁਮਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

Padee▫aa kavan kumaṫ ṫum laagé.

O Pandit, O religious scholar, what foul thoughts are you engaged in?

ਬੂਡਹੁਗੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਕਲ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਪਹੁ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Bood▫hugé parvaar sakal si▫o raam na japahu abʱaagé. ||1|| rahaa▫o.

You shall be drowned, along with your family, if you do not meditate on the Lord, you unfortunate person. ||1||Pause||

ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਪੜੇ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਨੁ ਖਰ ਚੰਦਨ ਜਸ ਭਾਰਾ ॥

Béḋ puraan paṛé kaa ki▫aa gun kʱar chanḋan jas bʱaaraa.

What is the use of reading the Vedas and the Puranas? It is like loading a donkey with sandalwood.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਕੈਸੇ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੧॥

Raam naam kee gaṫ nahee jaanee kæsé uṫras paaraa. ||1||

You do not know the exalted state of the Lord’s Name; how will you ever cross over? ||1||
