ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Maaroo mėhlaa 5.

Maaroo, Fifth Mehl:

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਮਰਥ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਦਾਨਾ ॥

Parabʱ samraṫʱ sarab sukʱ ḋaanaa.

God is the almighty Giver of all peace and joy.

ਸਿਮਰਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਹੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥

Simra▫o naam hohu miharvaanaa.

Be merciful to me, so that I may meditate in remembrance of Your Name.

ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜਨੁ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਜਾਚੰਗਨਾ ॥੧॥

Har ḋaaṫaa jee▫a janṫ bʱékʱaaree jan baaᴺchʱæ jaachangnaa. ||1||

The Lord is the Great Giver; all beings and creatures are beggars; His humble servants yearn to beg from Him. ||1||

ਮਾਗਉ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਉ ॥

Maaga▫o jan ḋʱoor param gaṫ paava▫o.

I beg for the dust of the feet of the humble, so that I may be blessed with the supreme-status,

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਮਿਟਾਵਉ ॥

Janam janam kee mæl mitaava▫o.

and the filth of countless lifetimes may be erased.

ਦੀਰਘ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਿ ਰਾਪੈ ਮੰਗਨਾ ॥੨॥

Ḏeeragʱ rog mitėh har a▫ukʱaḋʱ har nirmal raapæ mangnaa. ||2||

The chronic diseases are cured by the medicine of the Lord’s Name; I beg to be imbued with the Immaculate Lord. ||2||

ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣਉ ਬਿਮਲ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥

Sarvaṇee suṇa▫o bimal jas su▫aamee.

With my ears, I listen to the Pure Praises of my Lord and Master.

ਏਕਾ ਓਟ ਤਜਉ ਬਿਖੁ ਕਾਮੀ ॥

Ėkaa ot ṫaja▫o bikʱ kaamee.

With the Support of the One Lord, I have abandoned corruption, sexuality and desire.

ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਗਨਾ ॥੩॥

Niv niv paa▫é laga▫o ḋaas ṫéré kar sukariṫ naahee sangnaa. ||3||

I humbly bow and fall at the feet of Your slaves; I do not hesitate to do good deeds. ||3||

ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ॥

Rasnaa guṇ gaavæ har ṫéré.

O Lord, with my tongue I sing Your Glorious Praises.

ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਮਾਤੇ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ॥

Mitėh kamaaṫé avguṇ méré.

The sins which I have committed are erased.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਤਜਿ ਤੰਗਨਾ ॥੪॥

Simar simar su▫aamee man jeevæ panch ḋooṫ ṫaj ṫangnaa. ||4||

Meditating, meditating in remembrance of my Lord and Master, my mind lives; I am rid of the five oppressive demons. ||4||

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਪਿ ਬੋਹਿਥਿ ਚਰੀਐ ॥

Charan kamal jap bohiṫʱ charee▫æ.

Meditating on Your lotus feet, I have come aboard Your boat.

ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ॥

Saṫsang mil saagar ṫaree▫æ.

By joining the Society of the Saints, I cross over the world-ocean.

ਅਰਚਾ ਬੰਦਨ ਹਰਿ ਸਮਤ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਨੰਗਨਾ ॥੫॥

Archaa banḋan har samaṫ nivaasee baahuṛ jon na nangnaa. ||5||

My flower-offering and worship is to realize that the Lord is dwelling alike in all; I shall not be reincarnated naked again. ||5||

ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ॥

Ḏaas ḋaasan ko kar lého gopaalaa.

Please make me the slave of Your slaves, O Lord of the world.

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥

Kirpaa niḋʱaan ḋeen ḋa▫i▫aalaa.

You are the treasure of Grace, merciful to the meek.

ਸਖਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਮਿਲੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਭੰਗਨਾ ॥੬॥

Sakʱaa sahaa▫ee pooran parmésur mil kaḋé na hovee bʱangnaa. ||6||

Meet with your companion and helper, the Perfect Transcendent Lord God; you shall never be separated from Him again. ||6||

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਗੈ ॥

Man ṫan arap ḋʱaree har aagæ.

I dedicate my mind and body, and place them in offering before the Lord.

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਸੋਇਆ ਜਾਗੈ ॥

Janam janam kaa so▫i▫aa jaagæ.

Asleep for countless lifetimes, I have awakened.

ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕੁ ਹਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਹੰਤਨਾ ॥੭॥

Jis kaa saa so▫ee parṫipaalak haṫ ṫi▫aagee ha▫umæ hanṫnaa. ||7||

He, to whom I belong, is my cherisher and nurturer. I have killed and discarded my murderous self-conceit. ||7||

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥

Jal ṫʱal pooran anṫarjaamee.

The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is pervading the water and the land.

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਅਛਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥

Gʱat gʱat ravi▫aa achʱal su▫aamee.

The undeceivable Lord and Master is permeating each and every heart.

ਭਰਮ ਭੀਤਿ ਖੋਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਏਕੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਰਬੰਗਨਾ ॥੮॥

Bʱaram bʱeeṫ kʱo▫ee gur pooræ ék ravi▫aa sarbangnaa. ||8||

The Perfect Guru has demolished the wall of doubt, and now I see the One Lord pervading everywhere. ||8||

ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ॥

Jaṫ kaṫ pékʱa▫o parabʱ sukʱ saagar.

Wherever I look, there I see God, the ocean of peace.

ਹਰਿ ਤੋਟਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਤਨਾਗਰ ॥

Har ṫot bʱandaar naahee raṫnaagar.

The Lord’s treasure is never exhausted; He is the storehouse of jewels.

ਅਗਹ ਅਗਾਹ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪੰਗਨਾ ॥੯॥

Agah agaah kichʱ miṫ nahee paa▫ee▫æ so boojʱæ jis kirpangnaa. ||9||

He cannot be seized; He is inaccessible, and His limits cannot be found. He is realized when the Lord bestows His Grace. ||9||

ਛਾਤੀ ਸੀਤਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਠੰਢਾ ॥

Chʱaaṫee seeṫal man ṫan tʱandʱaa.

My heart is cooled, and my mind and body are calmed and soothed.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੀ ਮਿਟਵੀ ਡੰਝਾ ॥

Janam maraṇ kee mitvee danjʱaa.

The craving for birth and death is quenched.

ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਅਮਿਓ ਧਾਰਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੰਗਨਾ ॥੧੦॥

Kar gėh kaadʱ lee▫é parabʱ apunæ ami▫o ḋʱaar ḋaristangnaa. ||10||

Grasping hold of my hand, He has lifted me up and out; He has blessed me with His Ambrosial Glance of Grace. ||10||

ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ॥

Ėko ék ravi▫aa sabʱ tʱaa▫ee.

The One and Only Lord is permeating and pervading everywhere.

ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

Ŧis bin ḋoojaa ko▫ee naahee.

There is none other than Him at all.

ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਭਰਮੰਗਨਾ ॥੧੧॥

Āḋ maḋʱ anṫ parabʱ ravi▫aa ṫarisan bujʱee bʱarmangnaa. ||11||

God permeates the beginning, the middle and the end; He has subdued my desires and doubts. ||11||

ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥

Gur parmésar gur gobinḋ.

The Guru is the Transcendent Lord, the Guru is the Lord of the Universe.

ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਦ ਬਖਸੰਦੁ ॥

Gur karṫaa gur saḋ bakʱsanḋ.

The Guru is the Creator, the Guru is forever forgiving.

ਗੁਰ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਿ ਜਪਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਨਾ ॥੧੨॥

Gur jap jaap japaṫ fal paa▫i▫aa gi▫aan ḋeepak sanṫ sangnaa. ||12||

Meditating, chanting the Guru’s Chant, I have obtained the fruits and rewards; in the Company of the Saints, I have been blessed with the lamp of spiritual wisdom. ||12||

ਜੋ ਪੇਖਾ ਸੋ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥

Jo pékʱaa so sabʱ kichʱ su▫aamee.

Whatever I see, is my Lord and Master God.

ਜੋ ਸੁਨਣਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥

Jo sunṇaa so parabʱ kee baanee.

Whatever I hear, is the Bani of God’s Word.

ਜੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਕਰਾਇਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੰਤਹ ਤਨਾ ॥੧੩॥

Jo keeno so ṫumėh karaa▫i▫o saraṇ sahaa▫ee sanṫėh ṫanaa. ||13||

Whatever I do, You make me do; You are the Sanctuary, the help and support of the Saints, Your children. ||13||

ਜਾਚਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਅਰਾਧੈ ॥

Jaachak jaachæ ṫumėh araaḋʱæ.

The beggar begs, and worships You in adoration.

ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਧੈ ॥

Paṫiṫ paavan pooran parabʱ saaḋʱæ.

You are the Purifier of the sinners, O Perfectly Holy Lord God.

ਏਕੋ ਦਾਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਆਨ ਮੰਗਨ ਨਿਹਕਿੰਚਨਾ ॥੧੪॥

Ėko ḋaan sarab sukʱ guṇ niḋʱ aan mangan nihkinchnaa. ||14||

Please bless me with this one gift, O treasure of all bliss and virtue; I do not ask for anything else. ||14||

ਕਾਇਆ ਪਾਤ੍ਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ॥

Kaa▫i▫aa paaṫar parabʱ karnæhaaraa.

God is the Creator of the body-vessel.
