ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਾਚਾ ॥

Āpé saṫ saṫ saṫ saachaa.

The True Lord Himself is True, True, True.

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਭਗਤਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਚਾ ॥

Oṫ poṫ bʱagṫan sang raachaa.

He is woven into the essence of His devotees, through and through.

ਆਪੇ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਪਸਾਰਣਾ ॥੪॥

Āpé gupaṫ aapé hæ pargat apṇaa aap pasaarṇaa. ||4||

He Himself is hidden, and He Himself is revealed. He Himself spreads Himself out. ||4||

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਹੋਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥

Saḋaa saḋaa saḋ hovaṇhaaraa.

Forever, forever and ever, He shall always exist.

ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

Ūchaa agam aṫʱaahu apaaraa.

He is lofty, inaccessible, unfathomable and infinite.

ਊਣੇ ਭਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਭਰਿ ਊਣੇ ਏਹਿ ਚਲਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਣਾ ॥੫॥

Ūṇé bʱaré bʱaré bʱar ooṇé éhi chalaṫ su▫aamee ké kaarṇaa. ||5||

He fills the empty, and empties out the filled; such are the plays and dramas of my Lord and Master. ||5||

ਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਾ ॥

Mukʱ saalaahee saché saahaa.

With my mouth, I praise my True Lord King.

ਨੈਣੀ ਪੇਖਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ॥

Næṇee pékʱaa agam aṫʱaahaa.

With my eyes, I behold the inaccessible and unfathomable Lord.

ਕਰਨੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰਣਾ ॥੬॥

Karnee suṇ suṇ man ṫan hari▫aa méré saahib sagal uḋʱaaraṇaa. ||6||

Listening, listening with my ears, my mind and body are rejuvenated; my Lord and Master saves all. ||6||

ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਪਣਾ ॥

Kar kar vékʱėh keeṫaa apṇaa.

He created the creation, and gazes upon what He has created.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸੋਈ ਹੈ ਜਪਣਾ ॥

Jee▫a janṫ so▫ee hæ japṇaa.

All beings and creatures meditate on Him.

ਅਪਣੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਣਾ ॥੭॥

Apṇee kuḋraṫ aapé jaaṇæ naḋree naḋar nihaalaṇaa. ||7||

He Himself knows His creative power; He blesses with His Glance of Grace. ||7||

ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਜਹ ਬੈਸਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸੇ ॥

Sanṫ sabʱaa jah bæsėh parabʱ paasé.

Where the Saints gather together and sit, God dwells close at hand.

ਅਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਹਰਿ ਚਲਤ ਤਮਾਸੇ ॥

Anand mangal har chalaṫ ṫamaasé.

They abide in bliss and joy, beholding the Lord’s wondrous play.

ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਤਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਚਿਤਾਰਣਾ ॥੮॥

Guṇ gaavahi anhaḋ ḋʱun baṇee ṫah Naanak ḋaas chiṫaaraṇaa. ||8||

They sing the Glories of the Lord, and the unstruck sound current of His Bani; O Nanak! His slaves remain conscious of Him. ||8||

ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਭੁ ਚਲਤੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥

Āvaṇ jaaṇaa sabʱ chalaṫ ṫumaaraa.

Coming and going is all Your wondrous play.

ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਖੇਲੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

Kar kar ḋékʱæ kʱél apaaraa.

Creating the Creation, You gaze upon Your infinite play.

ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ਅਪਣਾ ਕੀਆ ਪਾਲਣਾ ॥੯॥

Āp upaa▫é upaavaṇhaaraa apṇaa kee▫aa paalṇaa. ||9||

Creating the Creation, You Yourself cherish and nurture it. ||9||

ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੋਇ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥

Suṇ suṇ jeevaa so▫é ṫumaaree.

Listening, listening to Your Glory, I live.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

Saḋaa saḋaa jaa▫ee balihaaree.

Forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to You.

ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਣਾ ॥੧੦॥

Ḏu▫é kar joṛ simra▫o ḋin raaṫee méré su▫aamee agam apaaraṇaa. ||10||

With my palms pressed together, I meditate in remembrance of You, day and night, O my inaccessible, infinite Lord and Master. ||10||

ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥

Ŧuḋʱ bin ḋoojé kis saalaahee.

Other than You, who else should I praise?

ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਜਪੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥

Ėko ék japee man maahee.

I meditate on the One and Only Lord within my mind.

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਜਨ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ਇਹ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਘਾਲਣਾ ॥੧੧॥

Hukam boojʱ jan bʱa▫é nihaalaa ih bʱagṫaa kee gʱaalṇaa. ||11||

Realizing the Hukam of Your Will, Your humble servants are enraptured; this is the achievement of Your devotees. ||11||

ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ॥

Gur upḋés japee▫æ man saachaa.

Following the Guru’s Teachings, I meditate on the True Lord within my mind.

ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਚਾ ॥

Gur upḋés raam rang raachaa.

Following the Guru’s Teachings, I am immersed in the Lord’s Love.

ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਤੁਟਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਇਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਰਜਾਲਣਾ ॥੧੨॥

Gur upḋés ṫutėh sabʱ banḋʱan ih bʱaram moh parjaalaṇaa. ||12||

Following the Guru’s Teachings, all bonds are broken, and this doubt and emotional attachment are burnt away. ||12||

ਜਹ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖ ਥਾਨਾ ॥

Jah raakʱæ so▫ee sukʱ ṫʱaanaa.

Wherever He keeps me, is my place of rest.

ਸਹਜੇ ਹੋਇ ਸੋਈ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਾ ॥

Sėhjé ho▫é so▫ee bʱal maanaa.

Whatever naturally happens, I accept that as good.

ਬਿਨਸੇ ਬੈਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਬੈਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਹੈ ਭਾਲਣਾ ॥੧੩॥

Binsé bær naahee ko bæree sabʱ éko hæ bʱaalṇaa. ||13||

Hatred is gone - I have no hatred at all; I see the One Lord in all. ||13||

ਡਰ ਚੂਕੇ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੇ ॥

Dar chooké binsé anḋʱi▫aaré.

Fear has been removed, and darkness has been dispelled.

ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਰਾਰੇ ॥

Pargat bʱa▫é parabʱ purakʱ niraaré.

The all-powerful, primal, detached Lord God has been revealed.

ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਪਏ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਘਾਲਣਾ ॥੧੪॥

Āp chʱod pa▫é sarṇaa▫ee jis kaa saa ṫis gʱaalṇaa. ||14||

Forsaking self-conceit, I have entered His Sanctuary, and I work for Him. ||14||

ਐਸਾ ਕੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਆਇਆ ॥

Aisaa ko vadbʱaagee aa▫i▫aa.

Rare are those few, very blessed people, who come into the world,

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਿਨਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥

Ātʱ pahar jin kʱasam ḋʱi▫aa▫i▫aa.

and meditate on their Lord and Master, twenty-four hours a day.

ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਧਾਰਣਾ ॥੧੫॥

Ŧis jan kæ sang ṫaræ sabʱ ko▫ee so parvaar saḋʱaaraṇaa. ||15||

Associating with such humble people, all are saved, and their families are saved as well. ||15||

ਇਹ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਖਸਮ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਾ ॥

Ih bakʱsees kʱasam ṫé paavaa.

This is the blessing which I have received from my Lord and Master.

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਧਿਆਵਾ ॥

Ātʱ pahar kar joṛ ḋʱi▫aavaa.

Twenty-four hours a day, with my palms pressed together, I meditate on Him.

ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੈ ਉਚਾਰਣਾ ॥੧੬॥੧॥੬॥

Naam japee naam sahj samaavaa naam Naanak milæ uchaaraṇaa. ||16||1||6||

I chant the Naam, and through the Naam, I intuitively merge into the Lord; O Nanak! May I be blessed with the Naam, and ever repeat it. ||16||1||6||

ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Maaroo mėhlaa 5.

Maaroo, Fifth Mehl:

ਸੂਰਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਭੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥

Sooraṫ ḋékʱ na bʱool gavaaraa.

Do not be fooled by appearances, you fool.

ਮਿਥਨ ਮੋਹਾਰਾ ਝੂਠੁ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥

Miṫʱan mohaaraa jʱootʱ pasaaraa.

This is a false attachment to the expanse of an illusion.

ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਕੋਈ ਰਹਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣਾ ॥੧॥

Jag mėh ko▫ee rahaṇ na paa▫é nihchal ék naaraa▫iṇaa. ||1||

No one can remain in this world; only the One Lord is permanent and unchanging. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਪਉ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥

Gur pooré kee pa▫o sarṇaa▫ee.

Seek the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru.

ਮੋਹੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਸਭੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥

Moh sog sabʱ bʱaram mitaa▫ee.

He shall eradicate all emotional attachment, sorrow and doubt.

ਏਕੋ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਗਾਇਣਾ ॥੨॥

Ėko manṫar driṛ▫aa▫é a▫ukʱaḋʱ sach naam riḋ gaa▫iṇaa. ||2||

He shall administer the medicine, the Mantra of the One Name. Sing the True Name within your heart. ||2||

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਕਉ ਤਰਸਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਦੇਵਾ ॥

Jis naamæ ka▫o ṫarsėh baho ḋévaa.

So many gods yearn for the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
