ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭਾਣਾ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥

Bʱaaṇé vich vadee vadi▫aa▫ee bʱaaṇaa kisėh karaa▫iḋaa. ||3||

Glorious greatness rests in God’s Will; rare are those who accept it. ||3||

ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

Jaa ṫis bʱaavæ ṫaa guroo milaa▫é.

When it pleases His Will, He leads us to meet the Guru.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

Gurmukʱ naam paḋaaraṫʱ paa▫é.

The Gurmukh finds the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਭਾਣਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥

Ŧuḋʱ aapṇæ bʱaaṇæ sabʱ sarisat upaa▫ee jis no bʱaaṇaa ḋėh ṫis bʱaa▫iḋaa. ||4||

By Your Will, You created the whole Universe; those whom You bless with Your favor are pleased with Your Will. ||4||

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਰੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥

Manmukʱ anḋʱ karé chaṫuraa▫ee.

The blind, self-willed Manmukhs practice cleverness.

ਭਾਣਾ ਨ ਮੰਨੇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥

Bʱaaṇaa na manné bahuṫ ḋukʱ paa▫ee.

They do not surrender to the Lord’s Will, and suffer terrible pain.

ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ਘਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥

Bʱarmé bʱoolaa aavæ jaa▫é gʱar mahal na kabhoo paa▫iḋaa. ||5||

Deluded by doubt, they come and go in reincarnation; they never find the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence. ||5||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

Saṫgur mélé ḋé vadi▫aa▫ee.

The True Guru brings Union, and grants glorious greatness.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ॥

Saṫgur kee sévaa ḋʱur furmaa▫ee.

The Primal Lord ordained service to the True Guru.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥

Saṫgur sévé ṫaa naam paa▫é naamé hee sukʱ paa▫iḋaa. ||6||

Serving the True Guru, the Naam is obtained. Through the Naam, one finds peace. ||6||

ਸਭ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥

Sabʱ naavhu upjæ naavhu chʱeejæ.

Everything wells up from the Naam, and through the Naam, perishes.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ॥

Gur kirpaa ṫé man ṫan bʱeejæ.

By Guru’s Grace, the mind and body are pleased with the Naam.

ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਰਸਿ ਭੀਜੈ ਰਸ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥

Rasnaa naam ḋʱi▫aa▫é ras bʱeejæ ras hee ṫé ras paa▫iḋaa. ||7||

Meditating on the Naam, the tongue is drenched with the Lord’s sublime essence. Through this essence, the Essence is obtained. ||7||

ਮਹਲੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥

Mahlæ anḋar mahal ko paa▫é.

Rare are those who find the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence within the mansion of their own body.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥

Gur kæ sabaḋ sach chiṫ laa▫é.

Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, they lovingly focus their consciousness on the True Lord.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੋਈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਏ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥

Jis no sach ḋé▫é so▫ee sach paa▫é saché sach milaa▫iḋaa. ||8||

Whoever the Lord blesses with Truth obtains Truth; he merges in Truth, and only Truth. ||8||

ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

Naam visaar man ṫan ḋukʱ paa▫i▫aa.

Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind and body suffer with pain.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥

Maa▫i▫aa moh sabʱ rog kamaa▫i▫aa.

Attached to the love of Maya, he earns nothing but disease.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੈ ਕੁਸਟੀ ਨਰਕੇ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥

Bin naavæ man ṫan hæ kustee narké vaasaa paa▫iḋaa. ||9||

Without the Name, his mind and body are afflicted with leprosy, and he obtains his home in hell. ||9||

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦੇਹਾ ॥

Naam raṫé ṫin nirmal ḋéhaa.

Those who are imbued with the Naam - their bodies are immaculate and pure.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੰਸਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨੇਹਾ ॥

Nirmal hansaa saḋaa sukʱ néhaa.

Their soul-swan is immaculate, and in the Lord’s Love, they find eternal peace.

ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥

Naam salaahi saḋaa sukʱ paa▫i▫aa nij gʱar vaasaa paa▫iḋaa. ||10||

Praising the Naam, they find eternal peace, and dwell in the home of their own inner being. ||10||

ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰੇ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ॥

Sabʱ ko vaṇaj karé vaapaaraa.

Everyone deals and trades.

ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਤੋਟਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥

viṇ naavæ sabʱ ṫotaa sansaaraa.

Without the Name, all the world loses.

ਨਾਗੋ ਆਇਆ ਨਾਗੋ ਜਾਸੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥

Naago aa▫i▫aa naago jaasee viṇ naavæ ḋukʱ paa▫iḋaa. ||11||

Naked they come, and naked they go; without the Name, they suffer with pain. ||11||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥

Jis no naam ḋé▫é so paa▫é.

He alone obtains the Naam, unto whom the Lord gives it.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

Gur kæ sabaḋ har man vasaa▫é.

Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥

Gur kirpaa ṫé naam vasi▫aa gʱat anṫar naamo naam ḋʱi▫aa▫iḋaa. ||12||

By Guru’s Grace, the Naam dwells deep within the heart, and one meditates upon the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||12||

ਨਾਵੈ ਨੋ ਲੋਚੈ ਜੇਤੀ ਸਭ ਆਈ ॥

Naavæ no lochæ jéṫee sabʱ aa▫ee.

Everyone who comes into the world, longs for the Name.

ਨਾਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥

Naa▫o ṫinaa milæ ḋʱur purab kamaa▫ee.

They alone are blessed with the Name, whose past actions were so ordained by the Primal Lord.

ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥

Jinee naa▫o paa▫i▫aa sé vadbʱaagee gur kæ sabaḋ milaa▫iḋaa. ||13||

Those who obtain the Name are very fortunate. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, they are united with God. ||13||

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

Kaa▫i▫aa kot aṫ apaaraa.

Utterly incomparable is the fortress of the body.

ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥

Ŧis vich bahi parabʱ karé veechaaraa.

Within it, God sits in contemplation.

ਸਚਾ ਨਿਆਉ ਸਚੋ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥

Sachaa ni▫aa▫o sacho vaapaaraa nihchal vaasaa paa▫iḋaa. ||14||

He administers true justice, and trades in Truth; through Him, one finds the eternal, unchanging dwelling. ||14||

ਅੰਤਰ ਘਰ ਬੰਕੇ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥

Anṫar gʱar banké ṫʱaan suhaa▫i▫aa.

Deep within the inner self are glorious homes and beautiful places.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਥਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

Gurmukʱ virlæ kinæ ṫʱaan paa▫i▫aa.

But rare is that person who, as Gurmukh, finds these places.

ਇਤੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥

Iṫ saaṫʱ nibhæ saalaahé saché har sachaa man vasaa▫iḋaa. ||15||

If one stays in these places, and praises the True Lord, the True Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||15||

ਮੇਰੈ ਕਰਤੈ ਇਕ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥

Méræ karṫæ ik baṇaṫ baṇaa▫ee.

My Creator Lord has formed this formation.

ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭ ਵਥੁ ਪਾਈ ॥

Is ḋéhee vich sabʱ vaṫʱ paa▫ee.

He has placed everything within this body.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਣਜਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੬॥੨੦॥

Naanak naam vaṇjahi rang raaṫé gurmukʱ ko naam paa▫iḋaa. ||16||6||20||

O Nanak! Those who deal in the Naam are imbued with His Love. The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||16||6||20||

ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

Maaroo mėhlaa 3.

Maaroo, Third Mehl:

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥

Kaa▫i▫aa kanchan sabaḋ veechaaraa.

Contemplating the Word of the Shabad, the body becomes golden.

ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥

Ŧiṫʱæ har vasæ jis ḋaa anṫ na paaraavaaraa.

The Lord abides there; He has no end or limitation.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥

An▫ḋin har sévihu sachee baṇee har jee▫o sabaḋ milaa▫iḋaa. ||1||

Night and day, serve the Lord, and chant the True Word of the Guru’s Bani. Through the Shabad, meet the Dear Lord. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥

Har cheeṫėh ṫin balihaaræ jaa▫o.

I am a sacrifice to those who remember the Lord.
