ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤੀ ਜਗੁ ਫਿਰੀ ਨਾ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥

Ha▫o ha▫o karṫee jag firee naa ḋʱan sampæ naal.

Practicing egotism, selfishness and conceit, she wanders around the world, but her wealth and property will not go with her.

ਅੰਧੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਸਭ ਬਾਧੀ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ॥

Anḋʱee naam na chéṫ▫ee sabʱ baaḋʱee jamkaal.

The spiritually blind do not even think of the Naam; they are all bound and gagged by the Messenger of Death.

ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੩॥

Saṫgur mili▫æ ḋʱan paa▫i▫aa har naamaa riḋæ samaal. ||3||

Meeting the True Guru, the wealth is obtained, contemplating the Name of the Lord in the heart. ||3||

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

Naam raṫé sé nirmalé gur kæ sahj subʱaa▫é.

Those who are attuned to the Naam are immaculate and pure; through the Guru, they obtain intuitive peace and poise.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਇ ॥

Man ṫan raaṫaa rang si▫o rasnaa rasan rasaa▫é.

Their minds and bodies are dyed in the Color of the Lord’s Love, and their tongues savor His Sublime Essence.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੪੭॥

Naanak rang na uṫræ jo har ḋʱur chʱodi▫aa laa▫é. ||4||14||47||

O Nanak! That Primal Color which the Lord has applied, shall never fade away. ||4||14||47||

Siree Raag, Third Mehl:

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੀਜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥

Gurmukʱ kirpaa karé bʱagaṫ keejæ bin gur bʱagaṫ na ho▫ee.

By His Grace one becomes Gurmukh, worshiping the Lord with devotion. Without the Guru there is no devotional worship.

ਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਬੂਝੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥

Aapæ aap milaa▫é boojʱæ ṫaa nirmal hovæ so▫ee.

Those whom He unites with Himself, understand and become pure.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥

Har jee▫o saachaa saachee baṇee sabaḋ milaavaa ho▫ee. ||1||

The Dear Lord is True, and True is the Word of His Bani. Through the Shabad, we merge with Him. ||1||

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਭਗਤਿਹੀਣੁ ਕਾਹੇ ਜਗਿ ਆਇਆ ॥

Bʱaa▫ee ré bʱagṫiheeṇ kaahé jag aa▫i▫aa.

O Siblings of Destiny: those who lack devotion-why have they even bothered to come into the world?

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Pooré gur kee sév na keenee birṫʱaa janam gavaa▫i▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.

They do not serve the Perfect Guru; they waste away their lives in vain. ||1||Pause||

ਆਪੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

Aapé jagjeevan sukʱ▫ḋaaṫa aapé bakʱas milaa▫é.

The Lord Himself, the Life of the World, is the Giver of Peace. He Himself forgives, and unites with Himself.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਏ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥

Jee▫a janṫ é ki▫aa véchaaré ki▫aa ko aakʱ suṇaa▫é.

So, what about all these poor beings and creatures? What can anyone say?

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੨॥

Gurmukʱ aapé ḋé▫é vadaa▫ee aapé sév karaa▫é. ||2||

He Himself blesses the Gurmukh with glory. He Himself enjoins us to His Service. ||2||

ਦੇਖਿ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੋਭਾਣਾ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥

Ḋékʱ kutamb mohi lobʱaaṇaa chalḋi▫aa naal na jaa▫ee.

Gazing upon their families, people are lured and trapped by emotional attachment, but none will go along with them in the end.

ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥

Saṫgur sév guṇ niḋʱaan paa▫i▫aa ṫis ḋee keem na paa▫ee.

Serving the True Guru, one finds the Lord, the Treasure of Excellence. His Value cannot be estimated.

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਖਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੩॥

Har parabʱ sakʱaa meeṫ parabʱ méraa anṫé ho▫é sakʱaa▫ee. ||3||

The Lord God is my Friend and Companion. God shall be my Helper and Support in the end. ||3||

ਆਪਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਹੈ ਕਹਾਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥

Aapṇæ man chiṫ kahæ kahaa▫é bin gur aap na jaa▫ee.

Within your conscious mind, you may say anything, but without the Guru, selfishness is not removed.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਦਾਤਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥

Har jee▫o ḋaaṫaa bʱagaṫ vachʱal hæ kar kirpaa man vasaa▫ee.

The Dear Lord is the Giver, the Lover of His devotees. By His Grace, He comes to dwell in the mind.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੪੮॥

Naanak sobʱaa suraṫ ḋé▫é parabʱ aapé gurmukʱ ḋé vadi▫aa▫ee. ||4||15||48||

O Nanak! By His Grace, He bestows enlightened awareness; God Himself blesses the Gurmukh with glorious greatness. ||4||15||48||

Siree Raag, Third Mehl:

ਧਨੁ ਜਨਨੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਇਆ ਧੰਨੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥

Ḋʱan jannee jin jaa▫i▫aa ḋʱan piṫaa parḋʱaan.

Blessed is the mother who gave birth and blessed and respected is the father of one,

ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥

Saṫgur sév sukʱ paa▫i▫aa vichahu ga▫i▫aa gumaan.

who serves the True Guru, finds peace and his arrogant pride is banished from within.

ਦਰਿ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਖੜੇ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੧॥

Ḋar sévan sanṫ jan kʱaṛé paa▫in guṇee niḋʱaan. ||1||

Standing at the Lord’s Door, the humble Saints serve Him; they find the Treasure of Excellence. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥

Méré man gur mukʱ ḋʱi▫aa▫é har so▫é.

O my mind! Become Gurmukh, and meditate on the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Gur kaa sabaḋ man vasæ man ṫan nirmal ho▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.

The Word of the Guru’s Shabad abides within the mind, and the body and mind become pure. ||1||Pause||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਇ ॥

Kar kirpaa gʱar aa▫i▫aa aapé mili▫aa aa▫é.

By His Grace, He has come into my home; He Himself has come to meet me.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਰੰਗੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

Gur sabḋee salaahee▫æ rangé sahj subʱaa▫é.

Singing His Praises through the Shabads of the Guru, we are dyed in His Color with intuitive ease.

ਸਚੈ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥

Sachæ sach samaa▫i▫aa mil rahæ na vichʱuṛ jaa▫é. ||2||

Becoming truthful, we merge with the True One; remaining blended with Him, we shall never be separated again. ||2||

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥

Jo kichʱ karṇaa so kar rahi▫aa avar na karṇaa jaa▫é.

The Lord is doing whatever is to be done. No one else can do anything.

ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ ਮੇਲਿਅਨੁ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਪੰਨੈ ਪਾਇ ॥

Chiree vichʱuné méli▫an saṫgur pannæ paa▫é.

Those separated from Him for so long are reunited with Him once again by the True Guru, who takes them into His Own Account.

ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਇਸੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥

Aapé kaar karaa▫isee avar na karṇaa jaa▫é. ||3||

He Himself assigns all to their tasks; nothing else can be done. ||3||

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥

Man ṫan raṫaa rang si▫o ha▫umæ ṫaj vikaar.

One whose mind and body are imbued with the Lord’s Love gives up egotism and corruption.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥

Ahinis hirḋæ rav rahæ nirbʱa▫o naam nirankaar.

Day and night, the Name of the One Lord, the Fearless and Formless One, dwells within the heart.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੪੯॥

Naanak aap milaa▫i▫an pooræ sabaḋ apaar. ||4||16||49||

O Nanak! He blends us with Himself, through the Perfect, Infinite Word of His Shabad. ||4||16||49||

ਗੋਵਿਦੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥

Goviḋ guṇee niḋʱaan hæ anṫ na paa▫i▫aa jaa▫é.

The Lord of the Universe is the Treasure of Excellence; His limits cannot be found.

ਕਥਨੀ ਬਦਨੀ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

Kaṫʱnee baḋnee na paa▫ee▫æ ha▫umæ vichahu jaa▫é.

He is not obtained by mouthing mere words, but by rooting out ego from within.
