ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਅਸਟ ਦਸਾ ਸਿਧਿ ॥

Chaar paḋaaraṫʱ asat ḋasaa siḋʱ.

The four great blessings, and the eighteen miraculous spiritual powers,

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ॥

Naam niḋʱaan sahj sukʱ na▫o niḋʱ.

are found in the treasure of the Naam, which brings celestial peace and poise, and the nine treasures.

ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਜੇ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਾਵਣਾ ॥੪॥

Sarab kali▫aaṇ jé man mėh chaahėh mil saaḋʱoo su▫aamee raavṇaa. ||4||

If you yearn in your mind for all joys, then join the Saadh Sangat, and dwell upon your Lord and Master. ||4||

ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥

Saasaṫ simriṫ béḋ vakʱaaṇee.

The Shastras, the Smritis and the Vedas proclaim

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੀਤੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥

Janam paḋaaraṫʱ jeeṫ paraaṇee.

that the mortal must be victorious in this priceless human life.

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਰਹਰੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਵਣਾ ॥੫॥

Kaam kroḋʱ ninḋaa par▫haree▫æ har rasnaa Naanak gaavṇaa. ||5||

Forsaking sexual desire, anger and slander, sing of the Lord with your tongue, O Nanak. ||5||

ਜਿਸੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਕੁਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤੀ ॥

Jis roop na rékʱ▫i▫aa kul nahee jaaṫee.

He has no form or shape, no ancestry or social class.

ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥

Pooran poor rahi▫aa ḋin raaṫee.

The Perfect Lord is perfectly pervading day and night.

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਸੋਈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਵਣਾ ॥੬॥

Jo jo japæ so▫ee vadbʱaagee bahuṛ na jonee paavṇaa. ||6||

Whoever meditates on Him is very fortunate; he is not consigned to reincarnation again. ||6||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥

Jis no bisræ purakʱ biḋʱaaṫaa.

One who forgets the Primal Lord, the Architect of karma,

ਜਲਤਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਤ ਤਾਤਾ ॥

Jalṫaa firæ rahæ niṫ ṫaaṫaa.

wanders around burning, and remains tormented.

ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣੈ ਕਉ ਰਖੈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਨਰਕ ਘੋਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਵਣਾ ॥੭॥

Akiraṫ▫gʱaṇæ ka▫o rakʱæ na ko▫ee narak gʱor mėh paavṇaa. ||7||

No one can save such an ungrateful person; he is thrown into the most horrible hell. ||7||

ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ॥

Jee▫o paraaṇ ṫan ḋʱan jin saaji▫aa.

He blessed you with your soul, the breath of life, your body and wealth;

ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਨਿਵਾਜਿਆ ॥

Maaṫ garabʱ mėh raakʱ nivaaji▫aa.

He preserved and nurtured you in your mother’s womb.

ਤਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਛਾਡਿ ਅਨ ਰਾਤਾ ਕਾਹੂ ਸਿਰੈ ਨ ਲਾਵਣਾ ॥੮॥

Ŧis si▫o pareeṫ chʱaad an raaṫaa kaahoo siræ na laavṇaa. ||8||

Forsaking His Love, you are imbued with another; you shall never achieve your goals like this. ||8||

ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ॥

Ḋʱaar anoograhu su▫aamee méré.

Please shower me with Your Merciful Grace, O my Lord and Master.

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਸਭਨ ਕੈ ਨੇਰੇ ॥

Gʱat gʱat vasėh sabʱan kæ néré.

You dwell in each and every heart, and are near everyone.

ਹਾਥਿ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਕਛੂਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਜਣਾਇਹਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਜਣਾਵਣਾ ॥੯॥

Haaṫʱ hamaaræ kachʱoo▫æ naahee jis jaṇaa▫ihi ṫisæ jaṇaavaṇaa. ||9||

Nothing is in our hands; whomever You inspire to know, come to know. ||9||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

Jaa kæ masṫak ḋʱur likʱ paa▫i▫aa.

One who has such preordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead,

ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥

Ŧis hee purakʱ na vi▫aapæ maa▫i▫aa.

that person is not afflicted by Maya.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਦੂਸਰ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਵਣਾ ॥੧੦॥

Naanak ḋaas saḋaa sarṇaa▫ee ḋoosar lavæ na laavṇaa. ||10||

Slave Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary forever; there is no other equal to You. ||10||

ਆਗਿਆ ਦੂਖ ਸੂਖ ਸਭਿ ਕੀਨੇ ॥

Āgi▫aa ḋookʱ sookʱ sabʱ keené.

In His Will, He made all pain and pleasure.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਰਲੈ ਹੀ ਚੀਨੇ ॥

Amriṫ naam birlæ hee cheené.

How rare are those who remember the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਓਹੀ ਸਮਾਵਣਾ ॥੧੧॥

Ŧaa kee keemaṫ kahaṇ na jaa▫ee jaṫ kaṫ ohee samaavṇaa. ||11||

His value cannot be described. He is prevailing everywhere. ||11||

ਸੋਈ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੋਈ ਵਡ ਦਾਤਾ ॥

So▫ee bʱagaṫ so▫ee vad ḋaaṫaa.

He is the devotee; He is the Great Giver.

ਸੋਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥

So▫ee pooran purakʱ biḋʱaaṫaa.

He is the Perfect Primal Lord, the Architect of karma.

ਬਾਲ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੋਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਣਾ ॥੧੨॥

Baal sahaa▫ee so▫ee ṫéraa jo ṫéræ man bʱaavṇaa. ||12||

He is your help and support, since infancy; He fulfills your mind’s desires. ||12||

ਮਿਰਤੁ ਦੂਖ ਸੂਖ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਏ ॥

Miraṫ ḋookʱ sookʱ likʱ paa▫é.

Death, pain and pleasure are ordained by the Lord.

ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਬਧਹਿ ਘਟਹਿ ਨ ਘਟਾਏ ॥

Ŧil nahee baḋʱėh gʱatėh na gʱataa▫é.

They do not increase or decrease by anyone’s efforts.

ਸੋਈ ਹੋਇ ਜਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਕਹਿ ਕੈ ਆਪੁ ਵਞਾਵਣਾ ॥੧੩॥

So▫ee ho▫é jė karṫé bʱaavæ kahi kæ aap vañaavaṇaa. ||13||

That alone happens, which is pleasing to the Creator; speaking of himself, the mortal ruins himself. ||13||

ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਸੇਈ ਕਾਢੇ ॥

Anḋʱ koop ṫé sé▫ee kaadʱé.

He lifts us up and pulls us out of the deep dark pit;

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਟੂਟੇ ਗਾਂਢੇ ॥

Janam janam ké tooté gaaᴺdʱé.

He unites with Himself, those who were separated for so many incarnations.

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਾ ॥੧੪॥

Kirpaa ḋʱaar rakʱé kar apuné mil saaḋʱoo gobinḋ ḋʱi▫aavaṇaa. ||14||

Showering them with His Mercy, He protects them with His own hands. Meeting with the Holy Saints, they meditate on the Lord of the Universe. ||14||

ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥

Ŧéree keemaṫ kahaṇ na jaa▫ee.

Your worth cannot be described.

ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪੁ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

Achraj roop vadee vadi▫aa▫ee.

Wondrous is Your form, and Your glorious greatness.

ਭਗਤਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਣਾ ॥੧੫॥੧॥੧੪॥੨੨॥੨੪॥੨॥੧੪॥੬੨॥

Bʱagaṫ ḋaan mangæ jan ṫéraa Naanak bal bal jaavṇaa. ||15||1||14||22||24||2||14||62||

Your humble servant begs for the gift of devotional worship. Nanak is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You. ||15||1||14||22||24||2||14||62||

Vaar Of Maaroo, Third Mehl:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Ik▫oaᴺkaar saṫgur parsaaḋ.

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੧ ॥

Salok mėhlaa 1.

Shalok, First Mehl:

ਵਿਣੁ ਗਾਹਕ ਗੁਣੁ ਵੇਚੀਐ ਤਉ ਗੁਣੁ ਸਹਘੋ ਜਾਇ ॥

viṇ gaahak guṇ véchee▫æ ṫa▫o guṇ sahgʱo jaa▫é.

If virtue is sold when there is no buyer, then it is sold very cheap.

ਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਉ ਗੁਣੁ ਲਾਖ ਵਿਕਾਇ ॥

Guṇ kaa gaahak jé milæ ṫa▫o guṇ laakʱ vikaa▫é.

But if one meets a buyer of virtue, then virtue sells for hundreds of thousands.

ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

Guṇ ṫé guṇ mil paa▫ee▫æ jé saṫgur maahi samaa▫é.

Meeting with a virtuous person, virtue is obtained, and one is immersed in the True Guru.
